Has anyone noticed that, with the new update, there seems to be a distinc lack of ores (Gold, diamonds)? I've found plenty of Iron in the maps I've been on, but hardly anything else. (also there is a lack of animals, sheep etc. . Yeah, I saw the other thread).
I have explored vast amounts of the underground, and hardly found any. . . I had to go into creative mode just to give me some diamonds.
On one map/seed ( Minecraft ). . . good seed btw.. . . there was a massive 'chasm', about 100 blocks high, running about 300-400 blocks long and about 50 blocks wide, with lava flows, ravines running down the sides and obsidian in mass amounts at the bottom . . . . .but no diamonds.
Is anyone having the same issue?
Hello btw. . My first post, been watching the forums for a while, so thought I'd join in.
I've found passive mobs. . chickens, cows, pigs etc, but only one or two at a time. Not enough to make a sandwich out of!
I'm just struggling to find Diamonds and gold. Got loads of Iron and coal. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? Tried using dynamite to blow out a huge area from bedrock to about 30 high, but nothing.
I found a cave that goes down to lvl 12, good amount of gold, redstone, coal and iron. Will go back when I get finished mowing around my village to start mining. I'm sure there are diamonds in there somewhere. Hopefully I can run across some slimes in there as well when I open it up. Freaking cave is HUGE! starts out in a mountain.
Seariously?! *shakes head* you mean you don't mine or anything? just explore the caves. Still the best way to find diamonds when caverns/caves/ravines and all the other special features do not provide is branch mining or attempting to make a mob grinder of some kind, if not down right strip mining....
I usually have no trouble finding diamonds. Ravines are not the best place to look for diamonds, especially if they started from the surface, but don't rule it out. Just mine like a groundhog and then you will possibly find some, plus other reasourses...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
A large machine that takes about 2500-3500 cobblestone depending on how many items you want it to generate. In a nutshell it makes enemies appear, then die, then the items like arrows, gunpowder an all that will be gathered in one area for you to collect.

I haven't started mining yet. Too busy mowing grass around my village(Hey 4J, can we get a tractor and mower to help with this?). I was shocked to find what I did that easy. But I'm going to make that my mining headquarters......the only drawback it's a long way from my village.
