I started playing Minecraft back in May for the very first time, and I was immediatley drawn to the creative aspect that this game carries that no other game does quite the same. I immediatley started drawing out plans, marking territories, boarders. I took my time carefully because I wanted my World to ressemble how I thought things should be.
I spent 3-Months plotting and adding massive amounts of land in the middle of the ocean, I wanted to make a man-made island worthy of nice buildings. I tried to isolate my island away from the majoritivley snow generated seed that I was given upon seed generation.
But lastnight, something happened. After several attempts to play in the new 'Creative Mode' having my Xbox freeze up over and over, I finally entered the game correctly. I took a neat 'fly-over' of my man-made island to witness an unjst, godly act of internal griefing. IT WAS SNOWING ON MY ISLAND!! The Island that I purposely constructed AWAY from the snow biome, was now covered in snow! My map has been FULLY-EXPLORED for months! They told me I wasn't going to have the newly-added biomes since my World had been totally explored. So why on Earth would they randomly add snow?
Don't they realize Players spend time and effort creating what they want, adding biomes to unexplored seeds makes sense, it adds to the game, but WHY would they have added snow to my map? It doesn't even make sense. Take a player like me for example, I spent months and months getting everything how I saw fit, I play roughly 8-10 hours a day and really enjoy the game. And now I have to suffer because I made my World months ago? That's not right. I've spent countless hours that I'll never have returned to me to play a game I enjoy.
I don't care why, I don't care how, I don't know who I'll have to contact or what the number is, but I DEMAND this problem to be fixed. I'm hoping it's a sick glitch/bug otherwise Mojand griefed me worse than any 12-year old angry child could have ever. The fact you added snow to an already explored World is beyond me. There must be other players out there that are in the same position as I am! It's ridiculous!
Luckily, I saved the game right before the 'illegal snow' fell in the hundreds around my island. But If anyone could assist me as to where to take this problem, please help me out. I literally can't play or it will load the snow chunks as soon as I spawn in.
If this problem can't be resolved, then you lost a dedicated player for good! I would never 'deal with it' or make a new map, never ever. Thats alot of time and effort and it's unfair to ask that of anyone. If the adding problem is unresolved I demand a total refund of my money. Nothing about adding biomes was ever discussed for explored worlds, ever. It's not my fault, it shouldn't be my problem!
What did you guys do, rush putting the update out? Your one of the smaller, privatized video-game companies that I've ever played for, if you can't consider problems players are facing and resolve them to keep customer based, then no one will. I'm so freaking mad!

Bro here's the solution to this whole mess, make sure it's seen in HD and you can hear it.
Yeah though, "C'est la vie", you will forget about it after enjoying the new additions to the game for a while, I'm loving the update. I have a seed i'm not using where you spawn on a island(no snow) in the ocean, maybe it can be your old world risen from ashes, 3173539961103507403 enjoy
Let us not forget that we all bought this game knowing that it was in a "pre-release" format compared to MC PC. Let us not forget also that we knew the 360 version would update EXACTLY like that PC version, being as its pretty much the same code just in a different language. Princess_Zoe stated that we bought a product that has been forcibly changed for the worst. The thing is, didn't ALL of this happen on PC as well? hmmm. Oh, and if you think people from Halo don't take their creations seriously, you clearly don't know what forge is. Have a nice day.
Is your heart and soul lost in that blizzard too? I've heard some crazy complaints in my day working retail, but this one takes the cake. You realize Minecraft is a game, right? You aren't getting a refund from anywhere. Even if you got one (which you won't), your precious tropical island still has snow on it anyway.
This thread is ludicrous. And what is it that we all "aren't getting"? You laid all your cards on the table. Everyone gets it just fine. You're way too emotionally involved with a fake tropical island that is now covered with snow (which is removable), and you can't move on. Boo-hoo. And now you take to the internet demanding $20. Need I say more?
If $20 is all it takes to fix your pain and suffering, go panhandle. This thread is childish. I'm not being hurtful, I'm being honest.
Even if someone hadn't played Minecraft PC and didn't know their world would be forever altered after 1.8, there were MORE than enough posts here on this forum asking and clarifying that worlds would be changed dramatically (I think at least two every week leading up to the update for a solid month). Even 4J came in and posted to that effect, that YES worlds would be changed, that YES biomes would shift and snow would fall in areas it hadn't before, that YES you would see strange geographic features between areas that were explored and areas that weren't. As far as lighting problems, smash the torch and place a new one, it's been that way for a long time. Don't think about it as a ruined world, think of it as a chance to rebuild bigger and better with the new features.
I have lost EVERY SINGLE WORLD I have created because of the update, every last one has become corrupted; nevertheless, do you see me complaining and asking for a refund? Nope...I started over with fresh ideas.
Start over and move on man, it is not a big deal. The update has hit, your world is gone, start over and live your life. It is just a game, give it up....

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost all of them. I think you are setting a great example for everyone by not complaining about it.
Just to commiserate a little - The rename bug (copying over other worlds) got several of my old worlds that I had started and aside for my terrain generation experiment. That very nearly made it impossible for me to get any pictures to post showing the results. Fortunately, I caught on before the last of those old worlds went bye bye, so I did manage to post a couple of pictures of new and old terrain clashes from that one world yesterday). Even more importantly, I think my main build world is still surviving. I only opened it to see how the climate had changed around my base and then promptly exited without saving... so, I don't know yet whether it's been corrupted or not. It has many chests and signs in it, so it could yet be a victim of that bug; but I'm hoping they'll have a fix for that before I get tempted to try to open it to play in it again).
The thing i never understand is why stop playing a game for such a minimal thing....if your build was awesome as you said and if you didn't mind playing 8-10hrs a day....why not make the existing world something new and start over in a new world with creative, I'm sure it'll take half the time to create it in creative , i understand your made at such a "grave injustice" (-_-) but why give up something you enjoy for something so trivial? with a complaint like that it an be said why not go to Pc version you'll have more control for what you want to do there......
I had a decent amount of things on my old world and i was laughing at other people liKE 'haha your world froze" then yesterday it froze so i deleted it then after found out how to un freeze it
After reading this topic a few times, and gingerly heading into some of my old worlds I have had the oppisite happen. Snow went to plans and desert, that didn't bother me. Then I had my first world freeze up numerous times which was getting on my nerves.
So for that world I reset all of my chests and removed ALL MY signs. but it still had the world freeze when I would go into my mine, but this time only on easy. So then I avoided the "freezing mine" and went all around my world in peaceful and no freezes as long as I avoided a certain mine.
Then I found an area where a buddy had planted a TON, and I mean a TON of trees. Every block covered with sapling!. So I then I decided to burn all the trees to the ground! This took hours of burning and re-burning and removing an insane amount of saplings. Almost three hours of time!
Now my world is working, no freezing!
Like I mentioned earlier, the biomes changed (my world originally had A LOT OF SNOW!) for me for the better. It is weird though, having tall pine trees in a semi desert (light green/ brown grass w/ snow on top of the trees) biome......
So let me get this straight; it snows in your world now, because of an unavoidable, wildly publicly accessible, update to Minecraft's biome code, and you want a refund? They said it wouldn't affect generated terrain, not generated biomes. I'm not trying to come across as a douche, but this is NOT a valid reason for a refund. This post lured a lurker into posting, so good job if this is indeed a troll.
not cool TN55 u just went on a thread to say stop complaining and u complain about this.
Well this entire thread is a prime example of what i was talking about, and i only said it because this got to the point where people were starting to say the same thing over and over (because nobody bothers reading previous replies) a few pages ago. like your reply, for example. i've been watching this thread since it's first couple pages and it's already been said quite a few times by others exactly what you said, which is really only a statement of agreement which can be accomplished by repping the person who brought it up rather than making a whole reply and bumping an annoying thread. OP also replied to that suggestion stating it would be ugly and he shouldn't have to compensate for "what 4j did" because he, for some reason, disagrees with the fact that the climate shift was unavoidable.
This post is inspiring! The way you simply treat things like this makes me wish that I could do the same, but in my case when I lost my main world recently (due to the renaming worlds bug) I was put off playing Minecraft for a few days, by the thought of having lost everything I'd put so many hours of work into doing/exploring over the months since around its release :/
Also sucks because I was just about to start my Let's Play series on YouTube by starting off with exploring my main world, but now all of that's gone and there's nothing to explore haha! However I'm thinking of downgrading back to 1.6.6 to get the world back up and running, then either stay in 1.6.6 until the bugfix comes out, or just gradually go back to 1.8.2 the way it is just now and 'deal with it' as you'd put it!
Think I'd probably be put off playing any computer game in general though if I lost hours of work/progress on it, and I guess thats what makes me a 'Gamer' at heart really?
Anyway, sorry to hear about the fact you lost EVERY single world you'd created I was left feeling sick and empty just by losing my main world, but if I had lost them all then I don't know how I would've felt :|
Tis life my friend. I do not sweat the small things, losing my world is considered a small occurrence.
If I wrecked my truck in real life you would not hear me complaining. I would sit there and fix my damn truck until it is good to go. You get nowhere in life complaining and hoping things get handed to you.
All this arguing and bickering means absolutely nothing with this game. You win some and you lose some, you move on. People do not want to hear the whining and crap because they really do not care about it at all.....
I can understand all the feelings you folks get for your creations but its really only a minor inconvenience. Just start over. rebuild your old ideas even better and with creative now...automate some crap.
My best advice would be make a floating landmass OR cover the area with glowstone lamps constructed from fenceposts and glowstone, which should reduce snow coverage greately, even putting it in the water should thaw ice. My beautiful green palace floor is now a green then green yellowish but hey crap happens XD I got over the lack of vibrant green day one.
LOL, people who "demand a refund" don't deserve a refund. When you purchased the game, it said in big bold letter's "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" Which means they have no legal obligation to give you a refund. And by the way, they wont care that they lost a loyal (In upside down quotations) customer like you, because they already have your 20 dollars. And the 1 or 2 dollars you might have spent on a skin pack isn't a big deal.

You haven't seen much then. I have seen worse, and much, much worse. Ad hominem posts always make me laugh.
