Of course people shouldn't be mean and call him names or question his manhood.
the game is in beta. meaning subject to wild changes.
The climate change effect had been discussed and observed on the PC version. There ain't a lot of ACTUAL surprises in what we get when a new release comes out. the only people who are surprised are folks who didn't pay attention and read the wiki and the PC version's history.
This guy jumps on and rants about how he did all this planning and some snow appeared. We get less pissing and moaning about Global Warming in the real world than the entitlement rant this kid went on.
It's not like the game corrupted his save file so he couldn't load it. Or deleted it when he renamed the world. That is far more of a serious problem.
Accept that just like in the real world, you don't control the entire environment in the game. Play it and work with it, or not.
Post a rant about how some snow showed up and you're going to look like a sissy.
okay so you are saying that biome's weather has changed? if so can they fix this issue for pre 1.8.2 worlds? message me on xbox Gt: DivineFarticus please. Im not mad about the issue but it slightly discombobulates my theme for my "snow kingdom" but there is snow just not falling snow and it doesnt rain in the areas it should. but I'am sad...

I think the only way to fix it now would be if they allowed us to un-update back to 1.7.3. Clearing the caches does delete game updates; but I think this would take the game back to it's initial release (1.6), not 1.7.3. As a result, things like the clay bug would not be fixed and there would be no pistons in the game. I also think that since every old world save around probably has already been re-saved a few times in 1.7.3; these worlds would also probably just crash if anyone attempted to play them with what would effectively be Minecraft 1.6. Also, not being up to date with the game disqualifies it from being played on Live. So, really, un-updating is not a viable option.
im sure the couple months leading to the update, with the saying that you will have to build a new world, to have access to all the other goodies that are going to be in the game, you had to think that something could have hapened with currently built worlds. Me, personally misplaced chests, snowing where it shouldnt, and the countless other "issues" people are reporting that i havent had with this new update. i would rather start a new world then look at the old one because of the new structures, and everything else that has been added, i think you ask for too much, and are complaining because you thought that would were going to get something you werent, and thats ok, be annoyed. with the energy you are using being frustrated with certain issues you can be enjoying the game. or if you want you can play it on the PC because the word is, is that its better.
you know the word on the streets, your moms a squirter.
You said you spent 9 to 10 hours a day building this world???? Sounds like this is a blessing in desguise because you spend way to much time playing minecraft. I admit this game takes loads of time especially when furnishing and stuff but it sounded like you spent way to much on minecraft which why your so upset. Even I knew not to commit to a world untill after the update and I never played minecraft pc or visited a forum until I got the game. It was pretty much posted everywhere that the update makes previous worlds obsolete with all the new features. You could have taken some steps to avoid this like I did. I moved all my save data to another xbox and wont be going online withit so I can continue on my old worlds if I desire. However now that the update is out I dont see that happening any time soon. This update did make minecraft a little less fun with all the missing livestock and features which dont shine untill another patch.
Im sorry dude i really am i hate when something like that happens to me. I also understand that you dont want to start over but its either that or youve also wasted all that time planning. And another tip, play the pc version! You can get tools and mods that you can edit where snow falls!

Thats funny 9-10 hours. I spend 13-15 a day.

You pretty much said that you shouldn't build anything because it will eventually get screwed over by the update. Then what the heck is the point of building, because another update will come sooner or later. Maybe Marky likes to play online with friends on his world too, you should not have to limit yourself to features of the game just so you can have it the way you want. 4J needs to understand that they can't just do this every update! Users should have more control over the game they bought. I don't care if they mentioned it will effect old worlds, they should have options like yes or not to loading new terrain features....either way, 4J doesn't care about us, just the money. You would expect a small company to try and bring their game up, by adding more great features of their own, and not just following PC. People have made tons of requests about "please add breeding" or "we need enchanting"..who cares if it will come in a later update. 4J should work harder and add more to their game. They have the freaking top downloable game on the Microsoft Store that sells for $20 and we still have a buggy game and lack of features.
Good luck with the whole "demand" thing. I hear people really respond to that. /sarcasm
I spent months creating an adventure map before creative, and it was an intense couple of months because of it. Then, it started snowing in my beach-side resort town, and several of the water streams I set up as obstacles disappeared when their source blocks froze. I feel for ya, really I do. Best solution available; glass ceiling at max height. Not perfect, but easiest way to prevent future snow shoveling.
These complaint threads after each update are starting to become a habit. I don't know about anyone else but I'm perfectly happy w/1.8. this is the update i was most excited for. It's been said before but 4J didn't have to bring MC to xbox especially w/alot of limitations and guidelines that Microsoft enforces. I seriously think were very lucky to have MC for the xbox and yes there are a few problems like having smaller worlds, animals not respawning, bugs and glitches but seriously what games don't have problems? If people are so upsaet w/the game then stop playing. It's not that hard to just turn it off. Sorry thats just my 2 cents for today

Wish I could like it twice. The level of complaining that goes on after updates, even the pc ones, is epidemic. I feel like some of these people sorely need to invest in real life a little more. There's no reason to get this bent out of shape over a toy if your life is worth living.
Could look at it another way. You got pre built objects, could make drawings/measurements for those objects that were built pre creative mode. Build them quicker in a new generated seed which suits your biome needs. But sorry to hear about your luck with weather. At least creative will shave hours off of reconstruction if you decide to.
stop crying like a little girl you baby it's a video game get over it do you really think anyone gives a crap get over it and start a new world
Wait a minute, he is crying like a little girl? Look at you, complaining and saying no one cares. Why would there be over 150 replies to this then? If you have something you care about get ruined whether it's a game or not it can be pretty upsetting. Looks like you do give a crap too, why else comment?

But there were be no point, when next update comes everything will change.
Notice how he says they shouldn't. But he would check into them. Meaning he thinks they wont but he needs to look to be sure.
also off note: this actually helped me, because in my 1.7.3/1.6.6 update world (I always make a world with my gamer tag as the seed, every update) It was alwats snowy due to no generation changes. Now in 1.8 there is no snow so the same applies to my old worlds. Happy day to me.
Also offer note: I would like to check out your world to see the desturection it has created? and if you wouldnt mind the help I could help you build the glass roof that many have suggested.
Not my fault if he cant and/or chooses not to read plain English.
He read it, he just gave a beat-around-the-bush answer because he wasn't sure. You're the one who misunderstood an unsure answer that wasn't even talking about what you asked him. He was referencing world generation, not climate shift.
Maybe he, like many others, were under the impression that current worlds would not be changed, at least the biome would stay the same. That was straight from 4J's mouth. So yea, being upset is certainly warranted.
Nothing was straight from 4J's mouth. The only source listed in this entire thread was an unsure answer that didn't even address what was asked.
It comes down to lazy programming in the end. They were aware of the issue well in advance, they said they would look into it, but they made no attempt.
That simple basically.
You honestly believe that they wouldn't avoid this if they could? It's not lazy programming, it's unavoidable programming. And if they were aware of the issue well in advance there's NO reason we shouldn't have been either.
What a little girl you are haha! Your awfully angry for someone who has a complaint about a video game bro. The forums by definition is a place to voice your opinion, what is wrong with you?
Yeah, ignorant people on the forums making ridiculous demands and accusations tends to irritate me. I suppose that's my bad. Regardless, I stand by my statements. Why are you still here, anyway? If i remember correctly you're not playing this game anymore so you have no reason to be here.
People gripe when features are added, gripe when they aren't. Some like the new stuff, some don't. The ole "You can please some of the people all the time...", etc, etc, etc. For all we know, someone's world is "ruined" because he created a "winter wonder land" and now it's "ruined" because it doesn't snow there anymore. A mountain or ravine showed up in the "wrong" place. A river isn't iced over anymore making travel harder. The list goes on and on.
The MC worlds changed. They will continue to change. Things aren't, and won't be, the way they were. That's good and bad. Such is the nature of "upgrades".
Consider it part of The Challenge.
After playing for several hours on my old map/new update, I noticed mine was ruined as well, but for a different reason.
I was constructing a village, since none will ever spawn on my map, and the sky changed colors. It looked darker, the sun was gone, but the moon never rose. It looked as if it should be raining, but wasn't. I decided to walk away from my construction and QUITE A DISTANCE away, sure enough... rain. The code change transformed my grassy plains into desert. So now I will never experience actual weather in the portion of my map I have built everything. I actually liked rain and thunder and lightning. But now, most of my grassy map is forever altered into a desert biome. Awesome.
Then, I went back to my floating island I placed over a vast ocean. One corner of it is snow biome now. Not much, but just enough to annoy me.
And wolves have taken over everywhere.
I'll live. But my world isn't as perfect as it once was.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I love the fact that I just recieved infractions for this thread. I guess I got penalized for playing a game i like, and penalized for discussing a problem with the game.. Instead of adding any information that would be helpful the moderators would instead prefer to just penalize more and more. This is a joke
For what it's worth, I sympathize with you. The changes whacked you once, then you come in here to vent your frustration, and you get whacked again by, er, certain individuals. It doesn't matter what problem you have with any game, you will always have people on relevant forums antagonizing you over the experience. So don't let that bother you. As for the issue itself, I'm sorry that you updated your game blindly before waiting for feedback. I highly recommend waiting on any and all updates to games, until you've received feedback about their effects. The 1.8 update changed a lot, and it only makes sense to accept it if you intend to start fresh with a new world, or don't have any concerns about aesthetic effects on your existing world.
I'm still at 1.7. In truth, I've moved on from MC for the most part, but I'd hate to see the world that I worked on for so long get trashed. At some point, I will likely want to get into the game again and create new things. I'll probably update to 1.8 then (or whatever stage of progress it's reached by then). But in the meantime, I'm keeping it at 1.7.
That was the crux of the whole matter.

If you're going to use that excuse you may as well give up on life. Everything changes. EVERYTHING.
When minecraft changes it's time for a new build. Run off into the wilds or create a new map. Learn from your mistakes, build ontop of your successes.
