What I don't get, is that post. I told you how to stop snow falling on your city, that's a solution.
Lava biome, though- not happening. Even if it did, they can't add it to existing chunks and wouldn't affect your city. How else would they add it? What would they make it do, fall from the sky? Good thing you'll have that glass!
It may be a work in progress but as soon as they charge for that programme then people expect at least some degree of care put towards it.
You should not have to play having to "expect" your save game to be destroyed or become corrupt in a new update, thats ridiculous... What possible motivation would you have for putting in lots of effort into a world if you "expected" it to be corrupt after the next update...
If you expect updates to ruin your game then that just points to lazy/careless programming.
4J hasn't put care into the updates? I'm sure they'd disagree with that whole-heartedly.
Their goal was to update Minecraft to the equivalent of 1.8- mission accomplished. Our version is just the same as 1.8, and that was the plan. It was a necessary change, the weather changes, not careless. PC players lost a lot with the 1.8 update, even more than Xbox players did. Act like them, and move on. It was a necessary change.
your own uninformed-ness was your downfall... if you knew anything about the PC updates that we're following nearly verbatim you'd know there was a very VERY real possibility of a climate shift on existing maps. What they meant when they said "pre-existing maps wouldn't be affected by newly-added biomes" was that you won't have a swamp or something generate on an old map (a literal NEW biome, not just new in the sense that it's new because it wasn't there before).
you misunderstood what you were told and you relied on others for information you could've easily found on your own. It's your own fault, now unknot your panties, get the sand out of your vag, vaseline on your hurt butt might help too, and either deal with it or start over.
edit: oh and i'm sure they won't mind losing a "dedicated player" such as yourself. you're a douche.
What a little girl you are haha! Your awfully angry for someone who has a complaint about a video game bro. The forums by definition is a place to voice your opinion, what is wrong with you?
I started playing Minecraft back in May for the very first time, and I was immediatley drawn to the creative aspect that this game carries that no other game does quite the same. I immediatley started drawing out plans, marking territories, boarders. I took my time carefully because I wanted my World to ressemble how I thought things should be.
I spent 3-Months plotting and adding massive amounts of land in the middle of the ocean, I wanted to make a man-made island worthy of nice buildings. I tried to isolate my island away from the majoritivley snow generated seed that I was given upon seed generation.
But lastnight, something happened. After several attempts to play in the new 'Creative Mode' having my Xbox freeze up over and over, I finally entered the game correctly. I took a neat 'fly-over' of my man-made island to witness an unjst, godly act of internal griefing. IT WAS SNOWING ON MY ISLAND!! The Island that I purposely constructed AWAY from the snow biome, was now covered in snow! My map has been FULLY-EXPLORED for months! They told me I wasn't going to have the newly-added biomes since my World had been totally explored. So why on Earth would they randomly add snow?
Don't they realize Players spend time and effort creating what they want, adding biomes to unexplored seeds makes sense, it adds to the game, but WHY would they have added snow to my map? It doesn't even make sense. Take a player like me for example, I spent months and months getting everything how I saw fit, I play roughly 8-10 hours a day and really enjoy the game. And now I have to suffer because I made my World months ago? That's not right. I've spent countless hours that I'll never have returned to me to play a game I enjoy.
I don't care why, I don't care how, I don't know who I'll have to contact or what the number is, but I DEMAND this problem to be fixed. I'm hoping it's a sick glitch/bug otherwise Mojand griefed me worse than any 12-year old angry child could have ever. The fact you added snow to an already explored World is beyond me. There must be other players out there that are in the same position as I am! It's ridiculous!
Luckily, I saved the game right before the 'illegal snow' fell in the hundreds around my island. But If anyone could assist me as to where to take this problem, please help me out. I literally can't play or it will load the snow chunks as soon as I spawn in.
If this problem can't be resolved, then you lost a dedicated player for good! I would never 'deal with it' or make a new map, never ever. Thats alot of time and effort and it's unfair to ask that of anyone. If the adding problem is unresolved I demand a total refund of my money. Nothing about adding biomes was ever discussed for explored worlds, ever. It's not my fault, it shouldn't be my problem!
What did you guys do, rush putting the update out? Your one of the smaller, privatized video-game companies that I've ever played for, if you can't consider problems players are facing and resolve them to keep customer based, then no one will. I'm so freaking mad!
-MarkyD
ikr they said it would not affect exsisting worlds but after the update my grass was different colors which means i had to change the grass to lime wool which yesterday caught on fire, almost burning down every single tree in the area. i was enraged
NOW i have to destroy my prez building of my city and move it to some where else which could take months just look at t when i was finished:
What a little girl you are haha! Your awfully angry for someone who has a complaint about a video game bro. The forums by definition is a place to voice your opinion, what is wrong with you?
thank you stupid retards getting on here sayin bullish
I agree with the person above. It might also be God telling you that Minecraft needs to be put on hold untill you can get your life in order. Get a girlfriend/boyfriend. Job. House. Money. Friends. Stuff like that, not a new Minecraft world.
Why would you pass judegment on me personally? You don't even know me, I have all those awaiting things, im in college, i passed the firefighters exam im currently awaiting to hear back from the academy. This is getting out of hand, i came on the forums to discuss an issue with a game i play, are you guys dead serious? Haha holy shoot
First of all MarkyD2o12, sorry about your world. Second, I am an artist, I've been painting professionally since 2003, and when I was in college I had a professor that taught me the best lesson I've ever learned. In class we were given an assignment to paint a still life over the course of one week, so most of us spent easily over 50 hours on our paintings and were very proud. At the end of the week we had a critique and discussion and that was the end. Then, on Monday of the following week our teacher sat us down in front of our own paintings and gave us a new assignment. The new assignment was to paint two interacting figures...over our paintings. We all sat confused at first and then the teacher told not to be precous with our art, he told us not to evaluate our work, and that it doesn't matter how much time we spend on them, "just do it and then do it again. It will make you more creative." and it did, but I'm sure that advice does little to make you feel better, BUT the best thing about that lesson is that after that I valued what I learned from a piece more than the finished piece itself. I mean you spent how many hours on your island? 100? 200? and it was cool right? Then you can surely build something bigger and better, and with the tricks you've already learned you could probably build it faster. I mean what were you going to do when you were finished anway? sure you'll play the map for a while but will you just stop building? no way, you've got building in your blood. Don't stop, man, the best minecraft builders have all gone through world ruining problems but they're the best builders because they strive on. Hell, I've had minecraftx360 since it came out and only ever created one map. I've built statues, mansions, estates, castles, observatories, villages, even a redstone experimentation laboratory, but i'm moving on from it right in the middle of building an underground city, just because i want naturally occuring ravines and rivers on my map. Sure my other map isn't ruined but I doubt I'll come back to it. Anyway, from what I hear you've made an awesome map that many people are still going to want to play regardless of the snow situation. I say good job, man. I'll check it out, and good luck on your future builds.
Maybe he, like many others, were under the impression that current worlds would not be changed, at least the biome would stay the same. That was straight from 4J's mouth. So yea, being upset is certainly warranted.
This will be my last post, 3,500 something views, and more than half th replies are attacks for voicing an opinion in the proper place to do so. I would however whole heartedly like to thank everyone who shared information, or a personal situation where you agree/disagree. I'd really like to have wrote back to everyone, unfortunately with 8 pages going strong I don't think I'd be able to. Whether you agree with me or not, the fact snow randomly appeared in places i did not intend is not my fault. I also don't think it's my fault for being unaware of the changes previously affected by the PC version, I have never played.
What I dont understand is the people attacking my personal life telling me to 'get over it', especially the girlfriend comment- I'm most likely better looking than you are. If you took your own time to write attacks, it's most likely YOU who has nothing better to do with yor own time.
I originally posted because I was at a stand-still as far as playng anymore, or loading the map before I had more vital information. What's your excuse? Maybe I'd never get a refund, but the fact that so many others have chimed in with the same situation, clearly says I am not the only one.
This thread has gotten out of hand and I won't be apart of it anymore. This game, especially over others, almost requires a friendly relationship with other players. To share ideas, to criticize buildings, and to assist in construction.
What the hell is wrong with your own lifes that you would take personal offense to someone voicing a complaint... ON THE FORUMS!
Thanks again to those who shared more positive/productive stories and solutions. Goodbye goodbye goodbye
Everytime i enter the start menu for the game, it always has these uninformative queer sayings in the top left of the screen letting me know that 'Han Shot First!', they could've wrote, "hey pal, be careful not to play or invest too much time, we might just cover your shat in snow ;-)"
Okay, read a boat load of these pages. But no solution take you will... Sorry that you have such an issue with snow. Make a new world, in creative, super flat and delete the old. And if you really plan on never playing the game again leave the forum and delete the game. Even working at McDonalds or picking through the trash for empty soda cans you could make $20.00 pretty quick to the replace, which I'm going to assume you must get paid around 0.50 an hour, the $20.00 you spent on a game that has almost infinite possibilities and directions to go in. And IMO, value wise, what can you actually play over and over and actually have something way better than when you started.......
Please stop and move on!
Sorry for the rant other guys..... I thought I would find something useful in this thread.....
Is there a way he could delete the update off the hard drive and not havce to use it anymore? I cant remember. I feel the pain some considering how hard I worked on my maps and that would kill me if that happend. It actually did too, but just a little bit that was already near snow anyway so no big whoop.

I stopped reading after you said 8-10 hours a day.
It's a game.. make a new map and start anew. Or just quit being butthurt and deal with the snow.

I sincerely doubt 4j just set out to screw you over. Unforseen glitches happen and there is no amount of bug testing in the world that can find ALL possible combinations of bugs. Sorry, but yes you SHOULD expect problems with an update. It's extra sad when it happens on a console since I'm assuming you guys can't back up your worlds. But it's still part of the experience. Minecraft isn't the first game on a console this has happened with, wont be the last.

Well, you were a little petulant with your post. It is just a video game after all. A certain amount of investment is required to play minecraft in a worth while way, so more power to you, but keep things in perspective.
You are absolutely correct though: these forums are pretty much the lowest form of human discourse on the web today, and I used to participate in gamefaq/youtube discussions.
[EDIT] Well crap! Sorry for the double post everyone. Haven't had my morning coffee yet.
