I've had an awesome world on the Xbox 360 edition that has a castle, player-built village, huge mine, etc. since the 360 edition first came out. Now that it's been updated to 1.8.2, does that also mean villages, ravines, strongholds, and the other new structures will be added to the world?
They will be added in if you did not fully explore the map . I had a 1.7.3 map that I did not fully explore . I explored it today and there are giant areas of swamps etc .
Careful what you wish for. The transition in terrain between the explored and unexplored chunks occurs suddenly right at the chunk boundary (which is square - period). If the new terrain code puts an extreme hills biome in a chunk that the old version had as desert, there will be an absolutely shear, straight and abrupt transition between the two features. I posted a couple of pictures of this phenomenon on a thread yesterday (which has now dropped way off the front page); but you should still be able to find if you're interested. (I'm sorry, I don't really know how to link threads appropriately and don't want to be guilty of bumping my own thread). The thread was called: Pics from My 1.7.3 to 1.8.2 Terrain Collision Experiment
what OneGear said. ALso it has been said that old maps may suffer from glitches when updated
It's too bad I explored the entire map already. XP
