I spend a great deal more time in Survival, but I will occasionally want to try/test something out in Creative, or work on a fairly large project that I typically wouldn't typically bother trying to do in Survival (usually redstone related) due to the amount of time it would take, or because it is more of a novelty idea and would end up being an eyesore in my world over time.

Survival, because it gives you a sense of accomplishment. I only play creative if I want to try out a new survival house idea without wasting materials.
Survival for sure. Creative mode makes me feel like I'm cheating. With all the resources at my hands and the ability to fly, where's the accomplishment?
It's just placing blocks. You can't argue with that.
However, in survival, you earn each block. You mine it, you craft it- not have it ready in a nifty little menu. You venture into the Nether for Nether Brick, not have it at your fingertips.
Creative is still fun for sure, but on terms of being rewarding? No.
I'd be much more proud of a castle I made on survival than one I made on creative.
The rewards are merely different from each other. Survival mode is about the challenge of acquiring the various blocks one needs to bring a creative idea to life. If the end build is exactly the same, the one done in survival does take more effort and, therefore, can feel more like an achievement.
However, creative mode is more about the challenge of designing a much more elaborate build or copying something in a much more exact way by doing it in a much larger scale. It can also be about designing map challenges (puzzles, mazes, and various adventures) for friends to try to "beat." Doing a map in creative mode that others truly enjoy playing in can also be very rewarding and feel like a real achievement.
The rewards are different from each other. I really wish people would stop trying to compare them in such a linear fashion.
I was going to come here and say you guys need to look up the definition of rewarding, but UpUp just made me feel like a jerk... He's made a very valid point.
Wow this topic laid dormant for 14 months before Greg revived it lol
Being a map maker this is a tough choice, when i started playing Minecraft all i did was creative based builds, yes i used the infamous duplication glitch
Survival didn't really grab my attention as there wasn't that much to do, it was cool making a base with a neat storage area and collecting plenty of resources but that got old fast.
Then we got TU7 which changed every for me, mainly potions and enchanting, it added so much more depth to the game, that's when i started playing survival more often, i still played creative as well but just not as much, ever since then with each update we get survival just keeps on improving in droves, i now play more survival then ever before, i have to now convince myself to go back into creative.
So if i had to decide which game mode was more rewarding ?
Without a shadow of a doubt Survival mode.
Yeah, I remember using that glitch, and waiting eagerly for the creative mode so that we didn't have to do that for our big builds. Now that we have creative, I never use it. I started doing a world with it and got bored within an hour. As annoying as those sneeky creepers are, it wouldn't be the same without them.

I like to play survival to see what I can do with limited supplies while worrying about monsters and such.
I like to play creative to build redstone contraptions and the occasional large scale structure.
