The only issue is this is you have to have a gold account to use it. You can get by for almost nothing by using a thumb drive and just save a backup copy of your world there every couple days. Since it seems like people are always giving small ones away it's darn near a free solution to the problem.
Good advice
Sigh. Me thinks I may be able to bring my self to mine again promising my self that I will back everything up this time.
After the first 30 min have passed its seeming less and less like the end of days lol. Although I am still very angry that this happened on no fault of my own. I guess the sky dosnt seem like its falling any more. Plus I finally randomed a seed a like. Time to start over
Anyways Similar thing happend to me but the world im trying to rename was renamed and copied so i have 2 world thats the same but 1 with the old name and 1 with new name that i wanted. and it erased one of my hard worked world i told you guys dont mess with the rename yet
Myself and others have been saying this since release. BACK UP YOUR SAVES. This is no excuse for the glitches, that is true. But you should have known this update would bring problems, just like every update thus far. If you've lost your world due to corruption, it's nobody's fault but your own.

The flash drive isn't always reliable. I learned this years ago, before I had a live account, ended up losing my profile when flash drive was corrupted.
Now I keep backups on my flash drive, then an extra copy of each on my PC. Cloud storage, imo, is the least reliable of them all so I don't even use it. What really sucks is when you clean install a new OS on your computer and forget to remove a USB device. x_x I corrupted a flash drive and ruined a WiFi adapter like that once...
Cloud storage is the way to go. When you save your game it uploads, then validates the data. Plus you have it anywhere.

No, avoid cloud, avoid it like the friggin plague. I used it once, innocent purpose. That was my first world, sooo much time put in... it's still there, but never shall it open. Corruption. I also heard some people had similar issues.. that said, I moved on, and it was fine in the end, but I suggest avoiding cloud.
Edit: Unless there have been fixes since. Also, if you're only using it as backup, then that isn't necessarily dangerous. Can't say it'll be the most reliable thing, but it's something.

Strange, I've never heard of that happening. That does indeed suck! Im sure something can be done because when you save to the cloud it saves a copy locally too.

That is a good solution if you dont have xbox live. It would be very easy to backup your saves with a flash drive. I guess i just assume everyone have gold accounts these days

Like stated before, I've never seen or experienced any problems with cloud storage thanks to the validation. I dont know if your saves have always been validated or not though so the horror stories could be something that happened before validation was implemented. It is wise to have multiple backups in different locations.

Honestly, I've never even used cloud storage. All because of the horror stories I've heard about it. So, just to be safe, I will never put all of my trust in it. I have back ups on my flash drive as well as my PC, so several things would have to go wrong at once for a gamesave to be lost. All in all, I'm not too worried about it, I believe my files are pretty safe at the moment.
I renamed my Original world from "New World" to "Original" All it did for me was make a new save file of the same world but with the name "Original" I've been in both worlds and nothing bad happened. So I might just be the lucky few without this issue.

Everyone just needs to remember to back-up, regularly! It saves the heart ache later on!
