What happened! I just went to rename one of my old worlds and when it booted up the rename screen it froze for a sec then went to a screen that says your storage device can not be found then it went back to select storage device. I picked my HDD and the world I was trying to rename is gone. Im litterly in tears right now. hundreds of hours gone please please tell me I can somehow get it back. What a horrible thing. My xbox and HDD are new less then half a year this cant be real what happened. What did they do with this patch. If this world is gone im deff done w/ minecraft maby even video games in general for a while. This is hitting me hard

Life happens my friend. I have lost both my larger building world and my most recent survival world, both are completely gone.
There is not a thing 4J can do so you just have to move on and start making some new worlds. I hadd a strange feeling this would have happened so I did save copies to my flash drive but its no big deal, crap happens.

Well i guess im not literally crying (Yes I know I said litteraly) it just feels like t on the inside so their arnt physicall tears to wipe.
Noway I can play agin tho. Cant invest all the time I did I did in that world on something that another bug could just delete. In my 10 years of video gaming this is the first time I have ever lost a save file in ANY GAME EVER that wasnt the resault of the user in someway messing up. I.e my brothers got on the system etc. This is a huge bug. I have never encountered one of its magnitude in any game I have ever played

Again. How is it that a coustomer who pays money for a product and then uses the product strictly as intended and then loses all his work on the product just to move on. So your telling me non of the blame here goes to the company that released a patch that deletes your save file. Well maby I just have an old fasion view on ownership and coustomer business acountability. Either way Im not saying you said anything wrong and im not trying to be one of thoes people who go "bah change this in your game or im unsubscribing (looks at the wow fanbase)" but ya... i cant keep playing a game where my work isnt safe.

Well If you really feel this way then you should try and find the best way to contact 4J. Me personaly don't think it will happen because i know they can't do anything about it. So i just leave it alone. Im not happy that fact my worlds gone but what else is there i can do? Its gone. Plus now with creative i can make builds that took hours in 30mins.

Cloud storage is the way to go. When you save your game it uploads, then validates the data. Plus you have it anywhere.
The guy's reaction isn't ridiculously off. He lost something that he's put countless hours accumulating to days even weeks on something and was proud of it. I can understand his feelings. But there isn't anything that can be done now....it's gone. 4J didn't purposefully release it with these major bugs we are seeing (don't know how they made it past 4J and Microsoft testing though) so all you can do is move on. I hate the loss of a main world as much as you do but I'm a Miner and always will be. Make yourself steel and get back in those caverns!!!
Yes it does suck when this sort of thing happens, I've had save files randomly corrupt, I've also had memory cards and even flash drives randomly wipe all my data, the last one caused me to lose a whole load of exclusive pre-order content I was trying to transfer.
As for your question about making the company take responsibility, don't get your hopes up. While a band can sue a person for downloading their music without buying it because it's stealing (implying that data is property) a person can not claim the loss of data by fault of the product creator as destruction of property (they turn right around and say data is not property) so in all reality it's a flawed system.
The best you can do is sigh, shake your fist and start again, unless you have the finances to change the law.

No prob. You only get 512 MB (not completley sure on that, its 500 something) and im not sure if you can buy more, but hey its just for saved games. It would be nice to save DLC on there. now im just ranting:p

The only issue is this is you have to have a gold account to use it. You can get by for almost nothing by using a thumb drive and just save a backup copy of your world there every couple days. Since it seems like people are always giving small ones away it's darn near a free solution to the problem.
Once it starts to freeze your world has some type of currpution
