no and no.... Both 1 and 2 will be a later update...lol
Strongholds are there, just hard to find without the eye of ender.... Well for me it is difficult.
try basically impossible. theyre underground (or at least they were in computer) so you'll literally have to dig out the whole world until you find one.woops i didnt try to double quote. sorry lol
Strongholds are only in the Overworld (1 per level) and will take a bit of digging to find one.
In later updates Ender pearls are used to craft Eyes of Ender that can be used to locate and fix End portals.
Ender pearls will also be used later on to Teleport.

At the moment there isn't much to do but explore every ravine, cave system, cavern, and mineshaft you come across.
Mineshafts: i heard in another post it is possible if you run into a dead end, dig a couple blocks into that dead end and it is possible.
Ravines: should be obvious as those sometimes even break away into other caves and caverns. Hence possibility of running into one that way.
Branch Mine: You may stumble arcross any of the above if not the stronghold itself.
Mob grinder/generator: Just attempt to build one and just maybe stumble across it or the above to find it, as well coming out of it with a ton of resources.
Things to look for: Stone Bricks and/or iron doors/regular doors underground. This will most definitely be a stronghold as mineshafts don't have those. and only a stronghold has those. Even though you can craft all those but why would you craft those to fool yourself into thinking it is a stronghold. Bookshelfs are another possibilty as in the stronghold there is a library and well that would mean you dug or walked into the library section of the stronghold. Iron bars as well scatter a bit too.
Also when you bust open a block and a silver fish comes out you most likely have stumbled upon a nearby stronghold. Mainly stone brick but i think they might be able to do stone. Unsure of that latter bit but do know they inhabit stone bricks at least sometimes.
Ravines sometimes might cut a stronghold in half so a good place to start looking is in those. Mineshafts as well might lead up and around them so sometimes nearby you may find them.
These are all just possibilities to look out for. There is no for sure way until they release the update with eyes of ender are makable and nether fortresses would be in... So far they are not and will be in one of the next updates. Don't know which one as that is up to 4J to decide on how they want to release the next update or updates if they plan to do more than one. I hope this helps a bit...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Well yeah... theoretically easier, but i never found one even on the pc... Then again i haven't played it long enough. I am sure i will find that 1 eventually... although i am under the concern that 1 is not enough in case of it spawning like some of the villages do, half cut and you only get partial stronghold with some bits you can't even move or modify more less put torch on wall in a section or two.
Still not easy to find, but eventually with some patience if i manage to find a good world to work with...:D

what about NPC villages i made 3 different worlds trying to find one but no luck.
Its strange I keep seeing people say this...on my very first world, I found 5 without exploring the entire map. There could still be more. Also found a ravine.
Bad luck with world generation. Villages need relatively flat areas to spawn in.
Not quite true, since they add cobble to the foundation for those raised bits. I have 4 in a place that over hangs into caves. Can't say much for the road though. I just had to spruce up the place to look better, if not for the roads at least.
I don't have trouble finding villages, but mainly they spawn in plains & deserts. So if you have a large plains area then it is possible, and deserts actually do have to be relatively stepped. Not too much incline for them spawning. Or well from what i have seen.

I still haven't seen a stronghold yet. Will there always be a NPC village in every seed or is it possible that they won't?
And by the way, I doubt that there would be a stronghold in the nether. It is underground and if you dig underground in the nether, you will just get a face splat of lava in your face.

The stronghold should actually be easier to find. Just look at the ratio of world size and stronghold number and then compare it to the PC ratio.
864x864=1stronghold for XBOX
32,000,000x32,000,000=3 strongholds for PC
So yeah, strongholds should be easier to find in 1.8.2 XBOX than 1.8.2 PC.
