Okay so I have not been able to encounter a Enderman because I only have Minecraft on the xbox and I live in a hotel for now, from what I understand they are a earie mob to fight. It does not matter which version of minecraft you first met one sooo yea.

I've seen a couple of them and I have Xbox edition but when I first saw one I wasn't sure what it was then it hauled a** and then came back again so I ran up to it and it hit me for looking at it and it kinda scared me so I killed it and got an ender Pearl. By the way it is much harder to catch than I thought. At least it was for me LOL.
Wait, Ender pearls are in the update? I killed around 10 Endermen last night & not one dropped a pearl. My mob grinder didn't even give me one.
I think I found my first enderman on the top floor of my house, he was watched tv for a brief period, then teleported his ass back outside when I entered the room.
I hate endermen... and silverfish.
Whoever thought they'd be cool to have in the game should be shot.
My first (xbox) encounter I had one spend half the day right outside my house teleporting back and forth, making that stupid noise.
A waste of half a day.

yeah, their useless for now (cant throw them, or craft) but I've found two total. from now on im checking creative for new items in updates.
Ive had problems getting them to fight me, period. during the day the run, and at night too. the only one that ever hurt me, I litterally walked right up to it, stared at it for 10 seconds, and wacked it with my sword. it hit me twice before teleporting into a cave, to never be heard from again
I was just walking and then when I was going backwards, there was like a wall so I turned around and I see a Enderman. I run as fast as I can. Then I realize I have a diamond sword and kill them.
I had 3 spawn in the tutorial all in the same area. So while I was on the tower I shot them with those free arrows. I dont see them as a problem. I have onlt found 8 of the 12 music dicks in the tutorial.
Well, this was about 3 days after 1.8 was released. I had spent all my time researching pre-1.8 minecraft videos, so i was really confused when i saw the hunger bar. So, after 3 worlds, i discovered how to make a furnace. I died thinking that the furnace kept mobs away, and spawned to find at least 10 endermen next to my spawn point. I freaked out, running around looking at everything.
I met my first one just last night. Second night in-game, I'm standing on top of my watch tower in an NPC village. I accidentally look one in the eye--from a ways away as well, it had to teleport three or four times to get near me--and tp'd to the outside corner of the tower. It from there basically poked its arms through the wall long enough for me to kill it.
Well reading these stories of meeting a enderman face 2 face is intresting, more intresting is that from reading these the endermen or some may call "Shadow people" are mostly scary if there are more then 1. Lol.

Crap... !! What the hell! Oh there it is!

YOU FLEE BEFORE ME ENDERMAN! FINE
THEN I SHALL HUNT DOWN ALL YOUR FELLOWS
And Ive since been massacring every Enderman I come across :3
