well to be honest, ender pearls from this version are and always will be useless.
Yeah, you can collect them for when blazes are added but if you've already explored the nether, you won't find any blazes. And even if you wait until the next update to get blazes, eyes of ender will be useless because you will have probably already discovered your stronghold. If that's the case, you will not be able to go to the end.
So, I hate to say it but the ender pearls will only be useful for teleporting, but even then, it won't be very practical due to the damage you take from teleporting.
If you do RP games or whatever you can use the pearls as currancy until they bring Emralds so the pearls arnt completely useless. But thats just a thought maybe use them to troll your friends with a really hard dungeon say "Hey when ya complete this you will get this WICKED prize I set for ya.".
