I have been waiting for the awful 1.8 Beta update for Xbox with dread. So, did the Xbox update follow suit and ruined world generation as it did for PC? I wish I could try out an Xbox to see for myself but I sadly can not. Are the extreme hills in, and are they blue? What about trees? Are they completely overcrowding any forest now without breathing room? The spruce forests, what about them? And, are there any forests on any hill?
There are WAY too many tree's. If you fly above certain areas all you can see is trees as far as youre able too see.
Kinda annoying, but I guess its nothing a forest fire cant fix.

Yes, the new terrain was (sort of) added. It's worse than it is on the PC, since hills literally cannot exist outside of EH.
Yes, EH is blue. Trees are very common in forests and taiga but nowhere else. Taiga don't hove snow (I think). Hills don't exist unless you're in an EH.
So is sand still abundant? If so where will it be?
I need my TNT...
M
Like the others have said, desert biomes, but their are some patches of sand randomly along the waterline (or above)
sand beaches I will miss greatly and much weeping however, gravel beaches will be missed...slightly. they don't look great, but not having to delve into a cave near the begining of the game for gravel, of all things...that, I dont like having to do.
I've made two worlds so far with this update: one, the first, had a LOT of trees (not much time spent in it, just goofed off in creative for the first time) the second had a LOT of water (mostly ocean boimes). *looks at map* maybe...2/3 of the map is water? most of the land is connected though, minus my desert biome, and a random island to the southeast (aka, mob island, i passed it in a boat, litterally at least 20 mobs there at night)
actually there are somewhat hilly plains and forest, as well taiga... And yes unlike the pc, taiga has snow since it does snowfall when it rains in other places.
I miss the sandy beaches a lot. made the shoreline look nice... I have to agree the gravel ones just are the pits and so useless... After that first flint n steel made then what... Roads i have better ideas to use them for.
Now if they actually had a recipe for gravel to be made into another type of block that would be different and put at least a more decorative aspect to it... Like maybe road or slab or something similar... Anyway if i ever needed gravel that is what caving and branch mining and clearing underground are for...:D
Sand still in abundance... just look at the bottom of lakes oceans and the like, although would be nice to have those shorelines again...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I know beaches were technically taken out, but I think it still depends on the seed. I've only generated one 1.8.2 world so far, and my house is on beach front property.
My only question, is why does 4J/Mojang think it's necessary to remove beaches? It's not like it was affecting anything.
That's not how it works. I doubt beaches were intentionally removed because someone saw a problem. More likely, the terrain generation algorithm simply doesn't put as much sand down on shorelines anymore due to some unrelated change. Perhaps the new biomes and terrain features reduce the occurrence of large sandy beaches. It's even possible the existence of the old beaches was not an intended feature in the first place, but an unintended side affect of the limited block and terrain types. Increase the number of choices, and sand doesn't show up in such large, connected chunks.

I use gravel a lot to get up and down the steeper caves and ravines and also quite a bit in the nether. It's easy to drop into stacks and mines very quickly even without a pickaxe. Flint is not only useful for a flint and steels; it is also used to craft arrows (Although now that zombies no longer drop feathers and chickens drop fewer of them, arrows are going to be a little more scarce than before; and killing skeletons has become a lot more important since they are the only ones who drop arrows and bone meal.) I don't miss the look of gravel beaches, but I liked the look of the gravel under the water... much better than the dirt/sand/clay patchwork we have now.

Makes sense... although I actually like the look of the patchwork underwater look...lol.
I usually build/dig my way down the side of something grand like a ravine. If i down use water that is first... As for arrows i have no use for them since my aim gets me killed more often than not...>< So I just have work around tactics... Mainly hit and run like, but pretty much just ways to keep them at bay. However I actually have been for a long time wanting to attempt a mob grinder of sorts, just never got around to it since i have other things in mind usually and get pretty distracted real easy.
So I can definitely see the way that you or others using gravel that way being manageable. I just prefer building or digging down so i always have a way up/down something especially if I play to return many times to a place...:D That and it is kinda a habit of mine. ><

gravel...useless.... what the heck you making arrows out of? Gravel turns into flint when dug, flints used for flint n steel and arrows. It can be used as a quick way down mountains like sand and water. Gravel can be used on walls of houses instead of cobbles. Yeah I cant see what you would do with gravel.....

I've got stacks and stacks of flint. How many flint & steel do you need? I get arrows from skellies. Can't remember the last time I made an arrow.
Gravel isn't useless, but it is one of the most worthless blocks in the game due to commonness and the low value of flint.

Don't worry. Deserts.

how can you make flint & steel without gravel? without flint & steel you cant open nether portal to get glowstone.

Gravel beaches were just terrible, anyway.
