We now get these small little patches of sand blocks at the edge of rivers:
Beaches will come back in 1.2.3(Though they're not as good). Those who have played the PC probably already know this, but I just wanted the people who haven't to be aware.
Also, gravel beaches are now removed completely. They never got re-implemented like sand beaches did.
I still have beaches.. At least in the areas that I have explored already? It's going to be interesting when I get home and see if anything changed after I don loaded the update.
That sucks about the beaches. I thought I saw a few in my map but maybe I am wrong. As for gravel my friend uses it to get rid of lava without making obsidian which used to be a pain to break.
Yeah, I've been looking for beaches but only see a little patch of sand randomly in the world. I am not sure about the gravel beaches thing though. I have one in my world....
Gravel beaches are gone? Good riddance.
I don't really miss the actual sand beaches either. I'm one of the select few who loves the 1.8 terrain, I guess.
I have been waiting for the awful 1.8 Beta update for Xbox with dread. So, did the Xbox update follow suit and ruined world generation as it did for PC? I wish I could try out an Xbox to see for myself but I sadly can not. Are the extreme hills in, and are they blue? What about trees? Are they completely overcrowding any forest now without breathing room? The spruce forests, what about them? And, are there any forests on any hill?
It's pretty much the same thing as it was on the PC, Extreme Hills, swamps, blue grass. There are almost no mountains outside of the Extreme Hills biome. Although, Spruce Forests were fixed to have snow in them. But that's pretty much it. We'll get terrain changes next patch that adds hills in other biomes.(Very small ones, though)

yeah.... what?
That's the next update...
If you read the thread, you would know that, yes.
About what?
It was indeed a picture of a beach, from 1.7.3.
Gravel as some uses, you need it to craft arrows. You can also use it to get down from high places.
soo... at least, we dont have the ugly wather from the 1.8.0

Oh, sands still around. Just not near water as much as it used too. You can easily find what you need in a desert.
