Before I get into my review, keep in mind that these are my points of view and are only my opinions. I'm not complaining necesarily because this is a great update from what I've played so far.
The Good (I'm not including all the great new features that were also introduced on the PC version of 1.8 because they're kinda implied):
*Apples dropping from trees is great and I'm glad 4j didn't wait until the next update to put that in. The same goes for any new features that weren't originally in 1.8.
*The Xbox 360 is now technically the first version of Minecraft that actually has the music disc "Where we are Now". I kinda see this as the beginning of "exclusive content" since Mojang currently shows no interest in adding that Music disc to the PC version, despite thier original intentions.
*A superflat nether was another thing that the PC version doesn't even have and seems to be implimented well.
*New toggleable options for hosting your world. It won't stop griefers altogether, but it will help rival some plugins on the PC version.
The bad:
*It's impossible to break the bottom level of bedrock in creative. This makes me unable to fully recreate skyblock like I'd been hoping.
*The controls for creative mode and sprinting aren't necesarily bad but they could be improved. Double jumping is supposed to enable flight but this sometimes takes a few attempts to actually get into the air. Even though I'm used to double tapping forward on the PC version, this just doesn't work all that well on an xbox controller. but I am glad that the sprinting doesn't break as easily as it does on the PC version.
*Spawning locations: I'm not sure if this is just by chance, but I've been spawning close to the edge of the map, rather than the middle. Unless I'm mistaken, I think this is so that 4j didn't have to change the spawning coding for Strongholds. If you spawn in the bottom left side of the map, the upper right side of the map will probably be where the stronghold is. By not spawning in the middle of the map, I feel like I'm being forced to explore in a specific direction.
Overall:
I'm really enjoying the 1.8.2 update because Sprinting, the hunger bar, creative mode, and the new world generation are making the Xbox 360 version much more like the current PC version. While there are a couple of things I would prefer to be different, they will not take away from the enjoyment I get out of this update. Thank you for the great job 4j.
I would agree. On the note of pulling things forward from another update (apples from trees), I don't understand why 4j didn't pull forward teleportation with Ender Pearls. They should have either done that or removed them from dropping from Endermen. On the note of Endermen, they don't make their teleportation sounds and they're pretty weak, even without armor. But that's how it was on the initial PC beta 1.8 release, so I guess that's a thing. At lease they don't sound like zombies.
Agree with sprinting. Very poorly implemented with the double thumbstick. Should have been mapped to left stick, then moved 3rd person to somewhere else.
