I have 2 questions, if the community could answer them I would be very greatful.
1. Can you get seeds like melon and pumpkin seeds in a world that previously did not have them (Before the 1.8.2 update)?

To my knowledge, you can get melon seeds in a world that previously did not have them as long as you haven't explored the entire world. If you have explored the entire world, no abandoned mineshafts will generate and therefore you cannot get melon seeds. Even if you didn't explore the whole world and are lucky enough to get an abandoned mineshaft to generate, it's quite difficult to find melon seeds. As for pumpkin seeds, I believe you can also get them in a world that previously did not have them as long as you have pumpkins. If you have a pumpkin, I think you can craft seeds out of it.
You CAN switch between creative mode and survival mode, but you cannot do it in game. You have to exit your game and then you will be presented with the options of what difficulty and game mode etc. to load up your world in. I know this for sure because I have done it myself.
Sorry, but the Xbox version's map is already made once you spawn.
No, it's not. This has been disproved many times. The worlds function exactly like the PC does. If you have unexplored areas of your map, new terrain from 1.8 will start generating there. That leads to a chance of getting ravines, mine shafts, and villages.

To my knowledge, you can get melon seeds in a world that previously did not have them as long as you haven't explored the entire world. If you have explored the entire world, no abandoned mineshafts will generate and therefore you cannot get melon seeds. Even if you didn't explore the whole world and are lucky enough to get an abandoned mineshaft to generate, it's quite difficult to find melon seeds. As for pumpkin seeds, I believe you can also get them in a world that previously did not have them as long as you have pumpkins. If you have a pumpkin, I think you can craft seeds out of it.
