IMO, the leaderboards were completely "ruined" long before Creative Mode came along. My one friend, who I know for a fact is well ahead of me in everything, seems to have recently suffered a reset, since he is now down near the bottom of the pack and starting over at zero for almost every category. (ETA: Also, I was noticing this the night before last - i.e. before the update, so it could not have been due to his entering Creative Mode). I know also for a fact that neither of us dupe, so this appears to be something that could happen to any player - and it renders the leaderboards completely meaningless.
Who gives two s about the leader board anyway? Go build something instead of trying to be #1 in mining on your friends list. And almost everyone I know got every achievement on mine craft in 1 day, including me. Theres no point in ing over stupid things. If you want achievements hop into survival and boom 20/20 in less than 2 hours of play.
No point having leaderboards if people get reset for no goddamn reason at all. Kind of unfair to the people that put in the hard yards to climb as high as they can to compete with their friends, while the people that exploit bugs to reach the top go unpunished. Even the worst of games don't have any problems with users score being mysteriously reset. I've been reset 3 times now. The last being today. Please 4J, Just give us a detailed stats page that friends can view & get rid of the leaderboards.
They did that so everything isn't just given to you. Even if its the smallest thing ever like button, you still didn't earn it. So that isn't any excuse.
By the way, if I go onto my world using creative and don't save, is it still not valid to the leaderboards?
leader board is a waist of space. all the top players cheated to it. just like every other game that has one. i don't even look at it or care to get to the top. all this board is for is to say haha i broke one more block then you!!!
Who the hell cares about leader boards on minecraft anyway?! Wtf... People can't win there will ALWAYS be haters or have something so stupid to say. Oh and I really don't care to hear that YOU like leader boards and again it's so pointless to have them anyway. Your pathetic "achievements, leader boards meh meh my girlfriend" dude stfu and get a blankity blank grip. Go make another world get the achievements then move the hell on... And again with the leader board thing my god.... "I built more blocks then you drrrrr" freaking get a life dude it's a fu**** game...
As far as the secret chest, the safe room is for a central bank for an RPG, so the outside need to be available to all players, but the inside access restricted to me, and be secure when I'm not online. This doesn't just affect me, it also affects many people who play on my world.
For those of you who think my concerns are "dumb" and "stupid", or who "got all their achievements on the first day" or would generally like to talk crap about how my girlfriend, let me say a few things to you. She didn't get all the achievements yet. I'd like for her to play with me and get them. I like the leaderboards. If you don't, you are on the wrong topic. Also, you make Steve cry when you touch yourself at night, and your mother never loved you.
I never understood the idea of a safe in minecraft. No matter what you encase it in, you yourself must have a way to enter. If you can get in, then other players who are willing to steal your items wont mind breaking your silly iron door surrounded with bedrock. The safest safe you can ever build is a hidden one, or one that is indestructible but has a path only you can get to. Im a huge guy on mazes, and the only way i would trust my safe is if it were a 4 tiered maze with tons of leadoffs with traps in them that reset themselves and are reusable. This is the only safe i would 100% trust, even then it can still be broken into.
I'm unhappy as well and I think that FNC14 has made a fair point. It is extremely difficult to obtain the "On A Rail" achievement without mods, and we all know the situation with those.

It is NOT "extremely difficult" to get the On a Rail Achievement without mods. I've gotten the achievement 3 times - using three different local, offline profiles starting from scratch in three different worlds (I play on different Xboxes with different friends)/ It takes a little bit of time to collect the iron to make rails; but beyond that, it involves picking the flattest straight line your map (usually near one of the edges, going up a few blocks from the surface and sneak placing about 510 wood planks and rails as fast as you can walk. Then you make your minecart and a furnace minecart. Then put the furnace minecart behind the regular one, jump in and get a friend to stoke the furnace with some coal from behind so it will push you in the regular minecart. The minecart goes a lot slower than by using power rails, but if you remember to put in enough coal that the minecarts complete the trip in one turn, you'll still get the achievement. (No gold or redstone required.)
People who need mods for everything are just not using their own noggins to play the game.

haha, i know, none of the acheivements are impossible, but what some people fail to realize is if they were easy you wouldnt be acheiving much, thats kind of the point, these people would probably cry themselves to sleep trying to do some of the acheivments for other games, these acheivments are childsplay compared to some ive seen.

gonna steal someone else's line here "and the bump of the day goes to...." hey there you go you just got an achievement
now put on your thinking cap, sit in your thinking chair and think think think.... because you and the OP are missing the picture, not the big picture, or the small picture, the whole thing. common sense is so rare these days is a friggin super power.... and you don't have it. but my common sense is tingling. for one there's a big warning when you go to creative in a world created in survival, all the acheivments could be done in an hour in creative and would take no effort at all, defeating their purpose entirely. leaderboards are superficial and superfluous, just because you've dug more dirt or walked farther than any of your friends doesn't mean your better at minecraft, in fact they shouldn't call them leaderboards they should call them "who-has-no-life" boards
but by all means rant about something that was known to anyone with the ability to read months before the creative update

I agree. There are only two that really qualify as actual achievements - riding the pig and this on a rail one. When I read this, I was really just incredulous that anyone would consider having to mod to get them. I think, though, the bump post was mostly just another one using any excuse to pressure Microsoft and 4J to back down on modding (and failing that in an epic fashion since the achievements are so easy to start with).
I dont see the problem with disabling leaderboards when using creative. Other games do this when the player wants to use "cheats." I think it's a fair compromise; you can cheat, but you cant reap certain rewards.
Achievements not named When Pigs Fly are pretty easy to get, relatively speaking. If you cant get friends to help you on that one, well, get creative (but not that kind)!
@ op a good alternative to a bedrock store room is to use obsidian. Still blast proof and any store room is going to have a weak point at the entrance anyway.
I like the idea of the leaderboards but they are just so broken and the moment. The tops of the boards are full of people cheating and myself and others have had our leaderboard stats reset several times for unknown reasons.
But I think there are more important things to fix in the Minecraft than leaderboards.
