I am noticing that trapped/pen animals do not always spawn inside their pens (after an exit of the game and re-entry). They sometimes spawn outside the pen and just wander off. This may explain some of the missing penned animals; however, it does not explain "invisible chickens" still laying eggs inside their pens. On another note, I have noticed that wild animals of all types sometimes spawn inside closed pens, which can be catastrophic if the animal intentionally penned is a sheep and the wild animal spawning inside the pen is a wolf. I recently had two wild wolves spawn inside my rather small chicken coop and wound up taming them in order to lead them out of the pen without losing the chickens. Is there a way to get the game to recognize a fenced in area as a place where trapped animals must spawn inside and wild animals must spawn outside?
I am not sure if this has been pointed out but this is a bug or glitch that I have came across and its disappointing. I looked up a simple minecart detector rail using pistons to create a door as this link shows:
I opened my newly creative world and went to constructing I found that the piston that pushes the rail into place will not as if it was stuck. Once you remove the rail the piston is active (unstuck). Well I could not figure out why it would not work so I decided to go to my creative test world where I test and experiment with things and I produced the same thing but this time I was found that the setup works 100% as the youtube video shows. Would someone help me out with this or confirm that this is a bug in the game. I am not sure why I can get it working in one world and not the other. If someone care to jump into my games and see for yourself please send me a message on xbox @ AWDeagleTSi.

wolves spawn in the pens and kill the sheep you have to tame them or enclose the pens with walls roofs like livestock pole barns

If a person has enclosed pens and the animals can just spawn randomly inside or outside of it; what's the point of having a pen in the first place? If an animal can spawn randomly inside or outside of a fence, can it spawn randomly inside or outside of a building or pole barn? Is this perhaps connected to the "nightmare" issue of hostile mobs spawning inside homes?... and entities flashing and/or failing to render (disappearing) when they jumping beside a fence?
Well the fence fix although nice over all... frustrating! !.. chickens can slip out between fences and solid block square!! And now my herding fencing must be redone as well. Oh well back to work!! There are so many more animals not such a need to collect them I guess. Liked the challenge though.. had 30 plus chickens, 4 cows, 10 pigs, and 20 plus sheep b4 todays update! Never understood everyone's complaints about it. So much for all the time that collection took to accumulate. Still seems sheep don't regrow wool!! Ugh!
Not sure if its possible but melon seed seems to not be in this world I created ... found an enormous mineshaft with 0 chests!! And no melons in stronghold or dungeon chest so far either!! Anyone know if its truly possible to create a world void of melon seed?
It's actually just a temporary balancing issue until breeding is implemented. From what I understand, passive mobs will only spawn once, when you generate the world, and can be lead with wheat in your hand and fed to put them in an amorous state, and having two mobs amorous will lead to them making a baby passive mob which will become adult over time.
Introducing persistent move without the full breeding feature breaks the game a little, but it's manageable and temporary.
I believe you're possibly not understanding. If you have, say, a cow in an completely enclosed fenced area (no walls, no gates) and you then save and exit the game; there is a chance when you re-enter the game that the animal will reform just outside the fenced area or even on top of the fence itself. If have witnessed this more than once now by saving the game with myself near the fenced area. Just after I re-enter, the animals reform and I have seen them reform outside or on top of the fenced areas and then subsequently just walk away.
Similarly, wild animals may spawn inside a fenced area. For example, my one village had two sheep inside the fenced area that is behind one of the houses. I didn't catch them; but until I sheared them and killed them, they were essentially caught. This is not usually a problem... unless the wild animal that spawns is a wolf inside a sheep pen. Then, the sheep are dead and the wolves either have to be tamed or killed or tamed and then killed in order to be able to re-introduce sheep to that pen. (Since sheep don't regrow their wool, not a big issue right now; but it might become one when they do.) If the game says a fence is a valid animal pen, then the game's spawning and re-spawning functions should somehow respect the boundaries that fence represents, IMHO. Specifically with wolves, if the idea is that they should be able to get into a sheep pen to kill tamed sheep, then they should perhaps be able to just jump the fences as the spiders do rather than just spawning inside the pen.

thanks for explaining this so I would not have to,, this has been going on for some time now and now they dont leave the pens as much it is a bigger problem. now there are a lot more wolve as well

Update:
Friend and I started a world just for survival mode and few weeks back and mined this world some more last night. As I was thinking about it I went ahead and setup the same detector/piston door setup to find out that the redstone/torches had complications in working properly but needless to say manually using a switch and sticky piston I was able to push and pull the section of track as the the video shows doing with a regular piston. Anyways I am shocked to see that it works within the creative mode flat world and would not work for the other two and be affected in different way also. Just to note this is all done since the 1.8.2 update
Buggy pistons, When you use multiple pistons to make a door, most of the time the pistons and/or it will disappear, causing you not to be able to go through the door, I know it's not lag because it happens in offline games as well.
- Making a simple Piston Stair case with the pistons moving as slow as possible makes you still glitch into the piston making the piston not push you.
I would really like to be able to make whatever redstone mechanism I want without it messing up
Screenshots:
This is a problem I want fixed too I made 3 different types of piston elevateds and 98% of the time they do not push me up please fix
Well, neither of those things have ever happened to me: my enclosure is large and has a gate on it, with a two-high fence and no blocks interrupting the fence. Also, my farm is in a plains biome where wolves never spawn, they spawn in forest and snow biomes only so far as I can tell.
Regardless, when breeding comes in and spawning is presumably removed, your wolf problem at least will be fixed. Your escaping mob issue just sounds like you ought to build your enclosure differently. Have you considered using a fence that is two-high?
One incident of an animal spawning outside of the pen occurred in a superflat world. The enclosure was all fence, no gates and no nearby blocks of any other type. It was about 5 x 7 blocks. The pig in this case was clearly seen re-forming outside the pen after a save and exit and then re-enter. It's not that the animals are NOT escaping the pen, it's that the respawn (or re-render) after a save is not specific enough to place them reliably inside (or outside) of an enclosed pen area each time the game is saved and exited and then re-entered.
Gold Sword i could only get about 10-15 attacks out of, meanwhile the iron sword still lasted much longer, and yes legitimate attacks not attemps to mine with it, ill try again right now to see if i can get a clear count
Also it took 5 hits to kill a creeper just now, only takes 3 hits with iron
5 hits for a zombie as well
33 hits total out of a gold sword,
im at 41 hits with iron sword and only a quarter of the way through the health bar
I loaded up my world and my sheep multiplied in my pen. Instead of 1 there were +4. I would have kept them if they were pigs or cows.
But one thing that's given me an issue is my chicken farm, they seem to despawn. (unless in my water chicken egg farm) Basically if I have chicken in a pen on grass, either 1 or 2 or more, they vanish while walking away, when I have the same amount in my water chicken egg farm they all seem to be accounted for. Even when walking far away and coming back. I've also noticed sheep deep in caves at least between layer 13-20. Simply enough I just pushed it into the lava in each cave they were in.
I've found when I have a one-high spot in my fence, the animals jump against it repeatedly, but they avoid fence that is two high.
An animal jumping against the fence would be, in my totally unscientific opinion, more likely to glitch through it when the reloaded world tries to calculate where it is.
That actually sounds like the problem and the fix to my issue. =P
See with the Water chicken egg farm, it's made out of wooden planks and it's 3 block high, as with 1 to 2 blocks they can easily jump out of the water. =P

I'm pretty sure this has allways been the way it works, gold sword is pretty and expensive but gold in reality is far softer then iron, I always thought that was the reason gold stuff where's out very fast in game. Always made sense to me.

This is correct - gold TOOLS have a faster action rate than Iron but break quicker. There is no real reason to have a gold sword except to show off.
I am unsure if this is a glitch/bug or what ever, but I would like to know.
It concerns water. When it runs over things like redstone and the like turning them back into entities, is it suppose to destroy some of them in the process in the same way that lava does?
I've lost I think 1 of 3 redstone and a powered rail track because of my careless clicking just to get into a minecart with a water bucket in hand. I really would like to know if this is intended or is it actually a bug/glitch of some kind.
EDIT:
Also Pistons used in a converter belt type build don't work the way they use to. As in same as above. When the rotation of blocks happens, especially around water the block that is suppose to move just vanishes. So it is a good way to destroy blocks whether intended or not. I believe it is the water though, as I know changes to the water have been made, don't know what but that is what it appears to me.
So I am going to guess it is intended to cause blocks to be destroyed in water eventually...O_o
I really enjoy using redstone. It is mostly the reason I play minecraft on the xbox and pc. I would really like to see redstone get updated on the xbox. There is a glitch where when using a "T-flip flop" the repeater facing the piston overall facing the sun and/or moon will not get power to it. Here is a video of the problem.(http://youtu.be/bPuKv5PGN5U)
Another thing is why can't you place anything on a slab directly? On the pc version you can place stairs upside down and slabs on the top half of the block, not to mention you can place redstone on a slab or upside down stairs as well.

Not quite true. First off we will be getting the upside down stuff I believe in one of the next updates. Second on the PC slabs of different types do not stack. It is merely putting a slab on top of a upside down slab/stairs. I have yet to see any update on the pc that allowed different types of slabs to be stacked as of yet. I really hope that changes though in the future in both versions...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I dont know if this has been touched upon yet, or even if its a bug, but if you go into survival mode as a host with privledges, and you enable flyng, when you fly up then double tap 'A' to drop down, if you double tap 'A' again before you hit the ground to put you back into flying mode, the game acts as if you landed and damages you respective to how far you fell.

Retired StaffPistons won't have any delay until a future update. I think you're talking about hitboxes and textures disappearing from rapidly moving blocks.
