Actually, i know i got the bookshelves back before the update. When the update came through, i literally had just gotten done my castle library. Ten minutes later, MC updated. And we (my family) definitely all used to get them back on the Xbox before the update. I don't mind either way as growing sugar cane and trees is easy, but it doesn't make any sense for something like that to change.
What makes even less sense is that 2 different users of the same version of a program experienced 2 totally different things. I know for certain that I never got anything back from the bookshelves I destroyed. Perhaps I was using the wrong tool to break them.
What tool did you use to destroy them when you got items back - pickaxe? axe? etc. Are you using the same tool now as you did before?
When I click on any button in the menu, everything gets darker, the music stops playing, and when I play in a world my right analog stick wont work (its not my controller, it works properly in other games)
I've tried deleting the game and re-downloading it, I've tried turning off and on my Xbox, and nothing will work.
I'm starting to think its my Xbox but that doesn't make sense because everything else works perfectly fine.
I haven't changed Xboxes, I am using the same account I downloaded it on.
If anyone knows why this is happening please tell me, and if you know how to fix it please tell me that to.
If this can't be fixed then I want a refund.
Have you checked your sensivity settings for your controls while in the game? They are under the "Help & Options" menu.
This is just something that I'd REALLY like added in the next update (not just me, lots of people have said this) I was hoping that in the bug fix you could make it so that dispensers don't spit out lava/water buckets, but actually spill the lava/water when activated, me and my friends want to make a redstone minigame in which if you die, that lava spills and kills you, and we know another way to do it, but the lava-dispenser way seems like the easiest way.
When playing in Creative Mode with no items in your hand. right-clicking on any door, lever, or button will make them act as normal, however, my arm doesn't swing and the door, button, or lever will not play their sounds.
Okay so here's a glitch me and my friend found, if two people open and close a chest repeatedly around two times, the chest will stay open and wont close, and so far the only way to fix this is to quit the map and reload it
I found a bug where in your creative mode, your character in the top left is a greenish color...the only way to get rid of it is to save and come back.
When many entities are around a railroad, the minecart will stop after a few blocks, and not move.
for example: I have a melon farm, going down my railroad. If i just ride the minecart, it is fine.... but when I harvest my farm, then ride my minecart, it will move about 7 blocks, then stop, right ontop of a powered rail. Even when it is going at top speed. VERY STRESSFUL. Please fix!
Note: i have no piston, or anything that could interfere with my rail road beside it, my pistons to harvest my melons are 3 blocks away...
Bojopancacks
More of a specific bug, but very stressful. Fix this and ill be a "happier" camper.
I finally get my world fixed build a Sand stone temple and 1.8 kils my map for ever thanks a bunch. I have the the before and after and how to fix it. it does not matter 1.8 will just kill it any way.
Yes I said I found what was causing the lock up it is player inventory if you can find the people who have joined your game get them to dump all ther inventory to lave and jump in as well.
Tthis allowed the game to play for days till yester when no green bar failed to load dead done no more revert to last save.
here is some thing else i noticed as well. I have a save that has been growing and growing so has every one else's.
so I made a back up thinking of the current rename bug problem at hand and found out some thing else interesting I bet know one else noticed this. make a back up copy of your file, and notice the file size they very.
Now rename it and after it was renamed the original will disappear and the new one will appear with a smaller file size now 10 MB it does this with all of them move the old one back to your HDD now.
Is there some thing being left out or is what minecraft considers file corruption.
I believe there have been some serious changes to the version and it cant read the save if it was one of the very first save files started by the first version of MCXBL, So when it reads it all in to memory then writes it back to a file it just tossed out what it does not understand and rewritten the file is now only 10mb.
So I ran the 10MB file it loaded in multiplayer in crashes I have to get everyone to come back and drown, take a lave bath, etc and leave.
Will it continue to play in multiplayer at this point wih the file size reduced for ever after I get all the players to dump their inventory this time??
This is not just one this is all I testeded them on ranging from 12MB to 27 MB all reduced to 10 MB first version files that I have been playing with till the last update.
Only one was opened and got the black chests before I new what happen and save tis was the important one.
and yes these worlds are fully explored as well
there should be now reason the file size was reduced in the file rename proccedure.
I can tell you the the copy is working in offline as normal still have problem
Still have to get people to come back in to map and dump inventory
Yeah its a solution - but its really not a suitable one for me. I created this map purely so my friends could all play it together for the first time. I even refused help from my friends as i didn't want anyone to know anything about it.
Im so gutted! I feel like ive wasted the last two weeks building this. I would start another - but who's to say that the same thing wont happen again if i do.
Again, im absolutely gutted!!
Did you add signs to this new world? If so, perhaps try removing them while offfline and see what happens. Removing the signs from old worlds has helped some people; and Old_Gentleman mentioned on a thread a while ago that putting signs into a new world has started to cause freezing in that world for him.

The file size of worlds that are only partially explored is significantly less than worlds that are fully explored. In addition, worlds created after 1.8.2, even when fully explored, are significantly smaller than fully explored 1.7.3 worlds. Was the 1.7.3 world you were using full or partially explored before you went back into it?
I'm having great difficulty reading the font of your post, so I may not be reading what you're saying correctly. (You may want to go back and edit it to make the font a little larger). Are you saying the actual size of your one file dropped down in size when you resaved it after playing it in 1.8.2 or are you saying that it's just not as big as other 1.7.3 files you have on your system? If it is the former, then that is very interesting. You may be onto something.
You know what - the last thing i did was go round the map adding in signs to guide people through.
I will try this later and see if it makes a difference - but how can signs and mobs be related? It only crashes if its on easy or above?
I didnt think the signs had anything to do with it crashing but the more i read the more i think it might be that.
Thanks,
Yes, that is a mystery - why just on Easy mode and harder? The theory I'm starting to develop is that it's related to the RAM issues we were starting to experience in the previous version - so the crashing may be due to whatever happens to toss the file over a certain RAM limit - could be redstone, could be pistons, could be mobs, could be signs, could be chests, etc. In peaceful, the hostile mobs aren't, so that's quite a blob of info that doesn't have to be kept in memory or saved when the gave is exited. Signs would be more memory intensive than other blocks; particularly if there is a lot of additional text on eacy one. I'm not a programmer, but often a whole bunch of seemingly unrelated issues are often actually related in some way. For the old worlds, if I'm reading Evil Dog Boy's posts correctly, part of the issue may be that the files are already inherently quite a bit larger than the new world ones.

for some reason the the rename has reduced theh file size down to 10MB... if you watch this you will catch on
look at the largest file you have and find the oldest land largest ike 27Mb make a back up first.
rename it then look at the size.
they are not doing a rename the are reading it in to mem, temp array, temp file then writting back out and the file is comming out much smaller. I have not found the file to be any diffent just smaller .
My idea in doinng this and behind this is that this could force the file to be reread and rewritten and fixed it was reread and rewritten it has changed in size what changed.

Ding ding ding thanks for picking up on what I am saying and if you take and old world map and you make a back up first to a usb stick then you rename it on your HDD you will see that the renamed copy is only 10MB
THis has to be part of the problem with all the old worlds to the new version I dont care how many chests you fix it is a temp solution at best.
My saves start back with the first version they will have to stop putting a bandaid on this and fix this issue old world vaules and vars are be trashed and trampled to the point the games are being lost.
There is a difference and the change is there
you cant expect people to just start a new world every time a new verson is released this is not the PC version here!!!
I skimmed through and didn't see anyone else post this: When I build a door that has hinges on the right side when it's first crafted, the door does not respond correctly to redstone signals. This is very inconvenient when making double doors because when I place a pressure plate in front of it, the signal closes the door rather than opening it. Is anyone else having this problem?
I posted this a while ago, still haven't seen any other references to this glitch (granted I haven't looked very hard). I took a picture of it though:
Still wondering if anyone else is having this problem....

In the current version of Minecraft that is how doors work.
Changes are made to doors in a later version that allow them to be used as double doors correctly using Pressure plates, Levers etc.

What makes even less sense is that 2 different users of the same version of a program experienced 2 totally different things. I know for certain that I never got anything back from the bookshelves I destroyed. Perhaps I was using the wrong tool to break them.

I didn't need to have any tools in my hand when i did. While i was building, i would have the bookshelves in my hand, but, if i just wanted to move/get rid of some bookshelves, i would use whatever was in my hand. Usually a torch. *shrugs* The only theory i can come up with is maybe they aren't the same version. It depends on whether or not updates completely rewrite the program or simply add/change it. I never had 1.6.6 as i bought MC for the Xbox in august. So, if the updates are changing the game files and not replacing them, it is entirely possible for some bugs/glitches to differ for users within the same game. Mind you, it's only a theory. I haven't found anything that says how MC updates or even how Microsoft requires updates to affect programming.

~My problem is a simple one: I'm severely allergic to stupid.~
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I've recently come across a graphical bug. I built a mob trap tower and it produces a lot of drops and if I let them build up for a while all entities, including animals, start rapidly disappearing and reappearing and the animals are hard to kill because you cannot kill them while they're invisible.
has anyone else had an issue like this? I don't have a capture card so I cannot record the glitch unfortunately.
