I feel as though 1.8 will not be coming on Friday now. That was my guess..
Didn't the first skin pack come out 3 days after an update? I could be wrong, but I remember it happening that way. If that's the case, the update may come out before the skin pack or possibly on the same day. All the criteria for testing should be met by Friday(test stages, normal test time, etc.).
I have a feeling there will be information about the release date for the update later today. it feels like it's too early in the day for this to be the only Minecraft news.

Just because the Skin Pack is coming out on Friday doesnt mean 1.8 wont... I mean I see no real disadvantage (or real advantage) to releasing them on the same day or seperatly. Im still going to buy Skin Pack 3 even if it comes out on the same day as 1.8
