Aw,, you're just not trying hard enough... to get yourself lost that is. Set the game on hard, don't bring any torches, weapons or blocks with you (just a pickaxe) and turn the gamma down (say, to 15%). The caves always look larger in the dark.
Off topic: why does your sig say cm punk but the pic in the middle is Jeff hardy
Off Topic: That's punk man. It was the week after Punk had beaten Hardy in the steel cage in 09 when his contract expired. He came out dressed as Jeff to Mock him.

Hehe OT as well, kinda looks like Glen Danzig also.
I honestly prefer playing the Xbox version over PC. This is why I'm stoked for the creative addition. I made a cave the has about more than twenty tunnels, all going deeper as you walk down the steps. Many times have I explored and encountered mobs that make escape no option. A month ago, I spent a week and a few days finding the way back into my cave.
I have plenty of caves yet to explore on my world.
I agree that the worlds on Xbox lack that vastness that the PC version offers and have a finite feel to them but I am still nowhere near finished exploring all that there is to offer, and I doubt I will be anytime soon.
What really gets me is that Minecraft PC works just dandy on my PC when I limit it to 300mb of RAM. There are Minecraft clones on 360 with unlimited world. AND, this is the real kicker, a very nice Minecraft clone that exists for my phone that has unlimited world. And take note, my phone is not just any phone, but a Windows phone. That is to say a phone that is VERY limited in hardware specs. 512mb of RAM, 1.4ghz snapdragon processor and a 205 adreno GPU and it works just fine. The problem here I believe is because they are pushing so hard for four player splitscreen. Should drop it to two and it would be fine from what I've seen(a player existing in overworld and nether at same time)
Resolution: Throw your map down as soon as you start if you think it ruins the game. I can aree that would make it more interesting.
I have a suggestion to anyone who gets lost occasionally in the cave. Sometimes it's doesn't work as well, but I like to carry a stack of dirt and torches, as you are exploring the cave put a piece of dirt out in the cave floor and place the torch facing the direction you came from. Better than bread crumbs because creepers eat those.

actually that would not quite work well in some of the caves i do...>< I actually started carving out the walls and putting a cobble arrow pointing to the way out, so if i do get turned around at least i know i can find the exit...lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
........not to be prude but....if you are lost in a xbox mc ver. cave....you should never play the pc ver...just for the fact ne one can be lost in the xbox ver of mc makes me have a sadness for the world for i have no hope for humanity
I use a combination of signs and torches underground. If its a standard tunnel i just place torches on the left side of the wall. If torches are on my left i'm heading away from the entrance. If they're on the right i'm heading towards the entrance. I use signs in the huge opening with 3-6 tunnels leaving the big chamber and then continue my torches on the left wall.
And i too still find myself lost in caves, and i've played since beta. The cave generation is the same as PC and i don't recall ever really having the desire nor the time to explore a cave system so long it goes into another chunk. Mostly just up or down.

Don't be stupid. Caves even in this version can span half the map in their connecting tunnels. I suspect my entire map is actually connected underground. It would be no different in the pc version.
