just as the tittle says...i cant go into a cave and i hour later not have a clue where im at and try my best to find my way home...you cant get lost..i feel no depth with the xbox verison the newest video update on the news forums say some or another the areas you havent discovered will have the update...well whoop di do since it takes like 2 mins to go around the map.....be a good idea to be able to make a portal or something to get to a diff map/area...whatever....talk among yourselfs
just realized i didnt check witch forum this was postin to...oh well....
I don't know why people expected the map to be gigantic. The minimum RAM required for the PC is 2GB, while the recommended is 4GB. The Xbox 360 has 512MB.

512 MB*
Also, that RAM requirement isn't specifically for the Minecraft client. Most people I talk to allocate less than 1 GB to Minecraft and it runs just fine. Some people even recommend using around 500 MB, though I've only seen it a couple times. Most of the RAM issues that cause the MC client to crash actually come from allocating too much RAM. Windows 7, by itself, requires around 1 GB RAM at all times just to operate correctly. On the Xbox 360, we have a very stripped down OS that lays dormant when a game is running. The CPU doesn't have nearly as many processes in the background to worry about, like it would in a PC.

I meant 512MB. Typing fast ruined it.
Well, they've said that RAM is what is keeping the Xbox 360 worlds so small. So I'm just going to go with 4J/Mojang on this one.

Yeah, I saw that interview. I think the chunk loading mechanics are the memory hog in this situation. If chunks were unloaded/loaded the same way in MCXBLA as they are in MCPC I don't believe larger worlds would be such an issue. It seems they want to keep this system though, probably so split-screen drop in remains fluid and smooth.

I think it also has to do wit h the fact that the game is outputting in 720p HD and is running the Server and Client at the same time.
I usually allocated about 500MB of RAM to my PC Minecraft but when the update came out for the PC where they also had the game running Client and Server, I noticed a huge drop in performance at only 500MB of RAM.
it was more of a very long sigh......i like the idea of a type of neather potal to go into a diff map/area...just something to expand this tiny world to give it more exploration
You have never been in a big cave then. I have a couple worlds, with caves unbelievably big. Get lost all the time.
i hope your talkin about the pc because of corse ive been in plenty of big caves in that version i always have gotten lost...but if your talkin about the xbox ver. you must have a terrible sense of derection to go along with my horrible spellin and grammar

theres another issue you made me ponder about for it being 720p hd ..something seems off about it i dont kno if its the lightin or what...it doesnt look as appealin to my eyes as the pc...but thats a whole other subject
Hearing the portal idea 10,000 times is starting to get annoying.
You have to admit though, it's one of the better ideas. Much better than the "USE SOME MAGICAL SPELLZ TO MAKE DA GAEM USE LESS RAMZ AND GIV US BIGGR WORLDZ!! MCXBLA SUCKS CUZ ITS NOT LIEK DA PC VERSHUN!!!" argument.
2 minutes to get across the map... must have been one flat all land map...O_o
Usually takes me at least 30 minutes just to explore the surface.. and most caves i go in that are "Large" sometimes can get turned around... Especially when teh scenery in the caves looks the same in certain places throughout.... It takes me more than a day to explore all the caves i usually find since i mine out the resources as well at those times...
I do enjoy the portal threads though.... I mean i would mind having a stargate like chain of worlds...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

When people complain, they usually like to make it sound more dramatic than it really is.
It seems like every cave system in my world is disturbingly huge. Sometimes I get so lost that my heart actually starts pounding! However, cave exploration isn't that fun to me; I really enjoy exploring the surface, and these maps are depressingly small for that. I *desperately* want the portal idea implemented, it would make the whole experience feel a lot richer and fuller to me.
I get lost a bit, usually when I am drinking a few, but still get lost when completely sober. I get so frustrated that at times I have to dig a stairway up from where I give up trying to find my way out (usually wind up underwater when I reach surface btw). This happens mostly on caves that loop back on themselves. My system of torch placing could really use some revisions.

because the map is smaller you dont feel the same sense of exploration you would feel on large maps like for the PC?
