I really want to play mine craft, but I feel that anything I do is a waste because imjust gonna start a new world when the update hits. I will be deleting this world because I was never able to keep a world for very long anyway and I really only have a house built so far on this one.
So don't want to work on my current world or start a new one yet, but that begs the question, what am I to do!
I am thinking of taking the 404 challenge but that's all I can think of. Can anyone help me out?

I've actually stopped playing for around 2 weeks now.. Have been playing all my other titles because i know as soon as the update is released i will be playing Minecraft constantly, plus it's gonna feel awesome getting on after not playing for awhile!

Blow up your house and see if you can survive on hardcore without it.
We don't have a hardcore mode(yet) but playing on Hard is way more fun to me. Anything below it is way too boring for me(no offense to you Easy/Peaceful players) Since there is no hardcore mode though you can make your own just by seeing how long you can last before dying but it is pretty difficult to be the one to delete your own world instead of having the game delete it automatically

What about the creations that you made? Are you deleting those too? It would be a shame if you are. Even if your creations are bad, you can look at them and see your mistakes and know what not to do next time.
Maybe you can try and playing a different game? Maybe watching a let's play on youtube or something?

Eventually I'll use the world to help friends learn the game if they ever decide to join.
Something my friends and I did were to start theorizing what we'll make in the new creative mode. But on paper. I drew a pretty cool city block that I plan to make. We're all going to band together to make an awesome city.

All I'm using my original/old world for now is practicing my various manual/semi-auto/automatic farms, several different "era" themed designs, and trying to eyeball circles/spheres (I hate having to pull up sphere builders). Eventually I'll use the world to help friends learn the game if they ever decide to join.
This. I'm practicing my building techniques and my redstone skills. There is ALWAYS something to do in minecraft. Its all about what you make of it. LoL, ask a hundred people what the point of minecraft is and you'll get a hundred different answers. Then of course there is always TnT. Blowing stuff up never gets old, even its its just mountains.
Experiment with making mob grinders. Me and my friend have about 18 mob grinders because we have been trying to get the most effective one. My current one has taken about 4 inventory full of cobblestone and the mobs are carried by a single bucket of water. Most of the other ones are simple drop or drowning traps. My current one im building will smash, burn, and shoot them.

I've got my graphing paper pile of sketches for what I might want to put into my world... But I'll try them out in creative before then attempting the legit counterpart.
