Like many of you I have been waiting for the next update to come out. So in preperation I decided to level off a large are to build a castle, since it would be very easy to do in creative mode. But since it has taken a little while to get here I decided to use up the materials I had stockpiled. Along the way I would see a wolf or two and I figured I would tame them to help fight zombies and make it easier to get pork chops and such. The next thing I know I have more wolves than I know what to do with. It took me almost two months to find five of them to get the achievment and now I have enough for my own dog sled race, minus the sled right now.
Yes but only within that area. I think itll only stop them from spawning in that chunk or in the chunks near you but if you travel ut you should still find animals.
So does that mean I would be limited to having 20 wolves in an chunk?
Well, you could still find some elsewhere and bring them to said chunk. At that point no other passive mobs should be spawning, so it shouldn't make much of a difference.

Because animals can't despawn and respawn anymore (I believe they are keeping that part of the adventure update), even if you go to new chunks, new animals won't spawn. Which means that the number of wolves will be fixed. Assuming you've reached the cap, only if you kill all the wolves before you enter a chunk for the first time will you spawn new animals. And only the first time.

Well that wasn't what I was going for, but if that is true I may keep them around my wheat farm to keep it safe.
Just put fencing under all of your dirt blocks and worry no more. The fencing makes the dirt block 1/2 a block higher than it should be (though not noticable) so anything walking over it has no effect.

That sounds like a great plan. So you just put the fencing in a grid pattern underneath every block?

I need to give out more reputation. I'm not used to the system, but I see so many helpful posts. D: Sorry if I forget you!
Well I've had some good times and some mediocre times. I guess the good times outweighed the mediocre since my favorite sports team won today. How did you fare today? Well I hope.
And keeping on topic so this thread doesn't get locked. I too tamed a bunch of wolves once. I had them too close to my mob spawner and when a spider survived the drop and attacked me I accidentally hit one of them the pack decided to lunch on me.
Well to get this thread even more back on topic. I just thought it was funny that I had more wolves now then I had in the entire time I had played for before. They were a real pain in the butt to keep lined up.
P.S. is it possible to untame a wolf? Cause they can be some real whiny b!tches.

Not possible. & Can be? They are real whiny b!tches. lol
My Wolves met a grisly end with a piece of string. They pissed me off with their constant whining, & were also stopping sheep from spawning.

well since the non-hostile mob cap is i think 20... I would say yeah there will be less of those mobs spawning around...><

Hello.
Yes, every tilled piece of dirt.
A bit to the left, thanks for asking. And yourself?
