Hey, I need ideas for my new Sea Base, just for anything to build on either the grass pad or in the water. If anyone wants a tour of my world, friend me at xLightxxBulbx. I know how to redstone wire, so include those in your ideas if you want. And no, I don't want to build a house or village on the grass pad. I already have one of those at my underground base.
If you are good with pistons, there is a great rotating light house you could build. There is a tutorial on you tube. I built it, but it didnt quite come out right.
think in practical terms. What function does a SeaBase server, and what does it need to support that function.
Odds are good it acts as a way-station for ships or central trading space.
it would need:
ship docks (and also thus have ships docked to it or approaching/leaving it)
warehousing for goods to be transferred to other ships
barracks/quarters for the people who operate the facility
greenhouses/farming so it can meet some of its food needs
Weapons/defenses to protect from pirates/hostile forces (arrow dispensors, gunpowder cannons, walls)

I've already done a lighthouse with pistons and everything on one of my worlds, Didn't like how it turned out. I like the first comments about the floating shacks, but I already made a underground village in another part of the world for villagers when they come. Thanks for all the great ideas!Oh, and it's not really a fort. More like a base/aquarium. Sorry, I can't edit the title.
Okay, my list, and when I finish with all my ideas, I know have these..LOL.... Never stop building. Sea Stuff:
1- The Yellow Submarine from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
2- off shore Oil Rig
3- Water world , build a pontoon boat or the Exxon Valdez (all wrecked of course)
4- Build a sub out of grey wool, under water of course and re-enact "The hunt for red October... Wool and TNT might be a fun mix.
5- Build a Giant Sea Dragon or Moby **** (LOLZ I said ****)...LOL.. The great white whale.
6- Underwater mine cart surrounded in glass.
7- Underwater Volcano (glass top, I hate it when I get cobble and not Obsidian).
8- Instead of a plain Piraate ship, make a "Ghost Ship".
9- I think the "Thunder Birds" had a green submarine thing too.
10- The Natualis. (I don't think I spelled that one right LOL)
11- The under water drilling station from "The Abysss".
Can't think of any thing else.... I think I got all of my spelling errors..... :?
Knowledge is power, guard it well.

You should also place glowstone in the water like mines; not only does it look pretty cool, but you can actually see what you're observing.
