What? My xbox has nowhere near enough memory for every game I play to be saved onto the hard drive. My xbox only has 4gb, and between minecraft and the walking dead game I only have a couple of MBs left.
You know you can buy more memory, yeah? I'd be happy to be able to allocate maybe 50gb of my Xbox's memory to more world generation. Too bad I can't do that. (Stares hard at 4JStudios)

You know i doubt that he started this post to get a war going, but thats what started. Let me rephrase his question.
If (notice the If) the game was released onto a working disc version that had unlimited worlds (i don't care if its impossible) and mods and everything would you spend $20 (yes it's 20 bucks, don't whine) to buy it?
Yes or no in the poll.
It probably won't happen, and as i'm read, it can't happen. Although the question was fake, he was just wondering IF!!!! you would.
No need to start a war (btw i read the first 5 posts, so if things moved on, sry, this post is stuck here now).
The world is pretty large right now. Just how much room do you really need? Yes the PC version maps are big but they are meant to be bigger to run on servers. With the PC version you have all the different add ons such as Towny, Factions, etc. You need large maps to hold all those people and towns and stuff and to give them plenty of room to expand. With the Xbox you won't have those plug-ins so there is no need in large maps like the PC version. With the Xbox version, you won't have and will never have 40 or 50 people logging into your server to play multiplayer. The Xbox can't handle it. So therefore larger maps are not needed like the PC.And another note. Why even sell it on a disk? You can download movies onto the Xbox which are in the 1-2 GB range. So you can most certainly download a larger version of Minecaft through XBLA. They want you and require you to have an internet connection to play Minecraft so you can log into their server right? So why sell it on a disk to people who don't have an internet connection and therefore can't log into the minecraft servers. Seem pointless to me to sell it on a disk.
to say suuuuuuuuuuuurrrrreeeeeeee the way you said it. you know nothing about me i have connections they told me
idiot.....
you sir have no idea what you are talking about the next xbox is less than 2 years away there is a reason companies are already hiring for next gen game development and normaly I would just let your post go but people who promote ignorance upset me
I don't really know all that much about this stuff, but doesn't Microsoft place limits on mcxbla games to some extent? If a disc would relieve those limits, then wouldn't the game benefit in some way? I'm not saying it would be a huge change that would lead to larger worlds or anything, but I think it would at least increase the game's potential.
What I'm saying is yes, I would be willing to buy it again. Of course, I would expect some kind of discount for having bought it in the early stages, much like what the pc version had after the official release. It may sound somewhat greedy, but it only makes sense that way, right?

When you make such a definitive statement about a controversial topic, nobody will believe you until you provide some proof. No, "i gots me teh connexuns" doesn't count.

I do, in fact, believe that bringing MineCraft to a disc for the Xbox would not be a bad Idea. This is why:
As far as I know, the world size would get bigger, I mean wouldn't it? The reason it doesn't on the Xbox is because 4J and/or Mojang decided that the world size, if unlimited, would hinder on the space provided on your Hard-Drive. If it was put on a disk, it wouldn't be, I guess, not as much saved onto the hard drive as much as being somewhat "loaded" from the disk? I don't know.
I would have to say that if it came with more features and modifications, I think I would buy it simply because it would only be
a rather overpriced DLC. That is unless it was ported for the next generation Xbox, whatever it may be as the flippin' Durango or 720, I would absolutely buy Minecraft edition for it.

Random words that happen to relate to gaming don't count as proof, either. You need to provide a link to an article/indisputable source that explicitly supports your claim.
Basically the xbox only has 1/8th the memory that is recommended for the MC PC version. With 1/8th the memory to work with, something has to give- and it's world size. It's that simple.
Back OT: IF the final updated version with mods were on CD, I still wouldn't buy it. It wouldn't be updated anymore, and there's a 95% chance I wouldn't like the mods included or that I wouldn't like the ones that were included.

Please provide a quote that proves that either 4J or Mojang said that an unlimited world size would hinder the space provided on your hard-drive.
In an interview near the beginning of September 2012, Paddy Burns clearly indicated that it was the memory on the XBox holding the world size to this limit. (That interview has been quoted many times on several different threads related to world size: http://www.g4tv.com/...nd-console-gap/

So there are no max points set because MC is an arcade game? That was the whole reason for my op, I thought arcade game had set limitations, and that was the reason for smaller worlds. Which I still don't get whe. There are games out there like castleminer z that have much bigger worlds and close to as many items.

Those games don't have splitscreen, run at 60fps, 720p, hostile & passive mob AI, dynamic water and lava, gravity affected blocks, weather, smooth lighting, and a few other things.
I own CastleMiner Z, CastleMiner, and FortressCraft. None of them compare to the small complexities that Minecraft has.

If you don't care then stop arguing about it...
This "hard disk space" reason keeps rearing it's ugly head. I thought that was put to rest weeks ago.
The problem is memory, not HD space. The CEO of 4J said so here:

Proof or it didn't happen.

I've already explained about the memory limitation of the xbox compared to the pc above.
Infinite worlds are possible, but you wouldn't want them.
See my post, 12th one down, here:
