I think if Minecraft ever got ported to an actual disk game with full capabilities, I would rebut this game. It would have to be later on when the game is fully developed, but I would spend another $20 for this game with added features like tekkit, and larger worlds. Heck I've even asked GameStop if those cases for MC they have we're for sale just cause unlike the physical case.
Look, you install games to your hard drive to make them run better, not worse. Loading from the disc would actually make the world size issue worse, because the xbox would have to fetch world data from the disc instead of just pulling it from the drive. The reason that sucks is because, at that point, you are being forced to wait for the disc drive to finish reading the disc and converting it into the data it needs to be in order for it to be stuck happily on your screen. Thats the entire reason we have the ability to install our games to the drive...I mean, otherwise that feature is pointless because you still need the disc in to play them.
I don't believe in buying the same game more than once. I know it's a popular concept these days, and of course the IP owners love it, since they get to sell the same old stuff over and over. They're lucky more people don't feel about it as I do.
First off, the question is... let's just say "weird"... for the reasons stated above.
What difference does it make if it comes on CD or not, really?
Your question assumes that it'll be worth $20 bucks to get the "final" version with a bunch of mods.
* By the time it gets to the "fully updated" version you'll be married and will have moved beyond MC years ago. It's been 2 years and the pc version is still being updated- the xbox version is just starting. Who says we're still gonna be playing MC? Do some googling- there's some newer, better games in the works (way beyond the "clones" out now) that will make us look at MC like we do Infiniminer now. MC is just the first popular game of it's type, it certainly won't be the last! (I can't remember the name, but I even saw one that was MC-like, but didn't use, or be confined by, blocks.)
* You're also assuming that along with the final version, we'll get "mods" (especially our favorite mods). But what if, by the time it's "fully updated", it includes all those "mods" already? What about future, even better(!), mods? People just think tekkit is as good as it can get.. but is it?
* The biggest reason no is.... how would you get updates since it comes on a CD? Oh, that's right- there will be no more updates. Why would I pay $20 then for an old, abandoned game?

I mean the facts that Xbox would not have as strict limits on save file sizes, and memory usage. Isn't bathe main reason the worlds are so small? I personally don't mind the size of the world, but I see a lot of other block worlds with infinite world sizes. And look at games like skyrim, lot bigger than MC. I'm just saying maybe not a disc version but if it was made into a regular retail game and not an arcade game, it would be allot a little more space, am I right?? Love all the bashing on this site btw. These forums are fun some times.

Stop posting about how pointless and dumb some answers are saying that the question was pointless, while still providing an answer where your provided nothing We could go on endless.. and now comes another dumb answer: The smartest thing to do in a thread you want see disappearing is bumping it to the top by posting "please stop answering with your arrogance and lock this thread!!!"
Well said. I'm sick of all the pointless threads about when the update will be out, and things about what will be in the update when the changelog is posted online. If people on the site stopped posting answers or flaming posts then maybe the amount of a Tula threads would get better. Just saying. I try to post some topics I think could spark some conversations and each one I just keep getting, "that's stupid"
First of all, they wouldn't be able to make a brand new disc game $20. It would most likely be around $60 like every other new game. I think if they did do that you could get a kind of code for downloading mc for the $20 and take it to gamestop and get $20 off.
If...if we were to get a map the size of the pc then I would definetlynbuy the game again, I wouldn't even need any mods or such. The problem is that that is pretty much impossible as the disk wouldn't increase the would size at all.
Do I enjoy MCXBLA enough to have paid $40 for it. Yes, I do, no question. At $20, it's been a real bargain.
Is there any point to buying it on disc? No, none. A disc would simply be far less efficient than downloading the game from Live. Discs on the XBox now upload their contents onto your hard drive, so the game on disc would actually be running from your hard drive, not the disc. Yes, the disc still has to stay in the drive; but that only serves as a means of verifying that you have an original, licensed copy of the game rather than a "duped" disc. When you download the game from Live, the license verification is saved by Microsoft along with your other account information. Discs are still sold mostly for the benefit of consumers who are reluctant to have online accounts. They are more costly for the companies to make and package and distribute, so with sales online being so strong, it is possible that 4J may never offer it on disc just to make it available to that ever dwindling section of the marketplace.
Putting it on disc would have absolutely no effect on world size or whether or not additional features could be added to the game and the game still stay within the operating parameters of the XBox.

What? My xbox has nowhere near enough memory for every game I play to be saved onto the hard drive. My xbox only has 4gb, and between minecraft and the walking dead game I only have a couple of MBs left.

Sucks to learn things...
My initial reaction to this.
