Is it User Acceptence Testing -
I dont think cert testing is playing the game and finding coding bugs because the people who live streamed from XBLA didnt have a clue how to play. I know you dont have to know how to play to find bugs, but it helps.
Its obviously got problems
It's a certain department in Microsoft where game developers send out their patches to have all the new things added to be tested by Microsoft so they know they are not releasing something that will harm the game, Xbox live service, or consoles. Once the patch is cleared through the testing Microsoft certifies that the patch was inspected and made sure that there was nothing hugely wrong with it.
Now, to the people that are saying "the 10 day deadline" you are stupid... there is no set deadline...the average that patches are in Cert Testing is 1-10 days, that does not mean that every patch will get through it in that timeline. Cert Testing will only be completed once Microsoft feels certain that the patch won't break anything major when it's applied.
