I know how exciting and eager you get posting about it and asking questions, but their was never any information about a 'bug' in September, or any reason why it hasn't been available at a sooner time, all we know is that it is coming. You're question can kind of be compared to 'Well what if Obama brushed his teeth and then didn't go on stage until 5 minutes later' Dead End sir...
It's not really fair to consider this wait a long time. By comparison, mojang took only a little less time to move from 1.7 to 1.8 on the PC, but our version of 1.8 comes with many features that the PC didn't at the time. In fact, knowing the anti-griefing features they added alone makes me even more impressed they got it done so soon!
Everybody is just exicted for this update because it's a big one and pretty important one too since we are finally get creative mode. I go to bed every night dreaming about sprint flying, lol.

2. Mining Speeds from 1.2 (Love this!)
3. Sprint Flying.
4. A new Intricate Creative Menu.
5. Apples falling from trees from 1.1
6. Quick moving Armor, Furnace and Dispenser.
7. Updated mob sounds and Steve sounds. Pretty much sound update..
8. Superflat worlds
9. Superflat nether
10. Every Music Disk.
Ten things. Ten things, that were not added in 1.8. Not to mention stuff added specifically for xbox.

Yes. Hopefully next update we can get texture packs, potions and enchantments. That would rock! I have a feeling that Texture packs are going to be DLC. Maybe not.
It usually takes 10-14 but can take longer, not up to 10 days that's usually the minimum, and it's only been 8 days as of today because it was finished by 4j and handed over on the 2nd and weekends don't count.
As per why I think it's taking so long, well it took them two days to confidence test it, so I'm fearing that it's a whole new download of the game that is going to be uploaded not just an update. If that's the case the extended time would make sense.

In ways I wish no one would tell us when the updates have gone to testing. I love reading the change log but even that jut gets people all worked up and the post start flying on "when will the update be released" I just like to look at it as, I bought the game at release, that's what I paid for, and it was worth it. Any updates that come are just an added bonus! I think too many people look at these updates as mandatory, like the updates are owed to them. Think of it as a "thank you" from 4j for buying there game and helping promote it to being one of the top games on the Xbox

There is absolutely no need for anyone to speculate on this. In a cumulation of tweets and inteviews, 4J have explained what elements of the update were difficult to implement on the XBox; and they never stated that the update would be released in September. I suggest you look through the history of their tweets (either via the pinned thread on this forum or direct from their feed) and use Google to locate the various interviews Paddy Burns has had regarding the update as reported on various gaming websites. You can then form your own conclusion.
The actual reason this is taking a ridiculous amount of time is because Microsoft isn't making any money out of the 4,000,000 people that play MCXBLA and are stalling this as long as possible. I'm not manufacturing this or fabricating this. This is fact. The update is 100% done, Microsoft is dragging their feet on giving the OK to release it. Pack of s IMO.

4J had to make the SuperFlat Nether on their own. It doesn't currently exist on the PC version. So they made it from scratch for the Xbox 360 Edition.
I'm aware of that. That's why it's on the list.
And trust me, coding a game is a very complex thing to do.
Just be patient or if you're really desperate, take a month-long sleep.
