As soon as we handed over the 1.8.2 build to Microsoft, we branched off the source code so we have a branch we can work on if any problems are found in the Cert Testing, and we started the process of porting over the Java code to C++ for the next update after 1.8.2.
A couple of us also went over to Sweden for Mojang's Office Opening party on Friday night, and had a few drinks

I see. That's exactly what I was wondering. I took an intro programming course in college, but it wasn't too advanced. Kinda figured you could work on other bits and pieces, as long as they weren't included in the final version to come to us. Every small addition has to go through cert testing right? So is the coding for games like this similar to HTML? Like you have a main game file, and additional pages/files for new stuff like new biomes, and while in cert you just don't add the new pages/files to the final copy? Thanks a ton for the reply by the way, I love having a little sense in the workings of things like this. I was one of a few people that were actively helping find bugs and suggesting add one for castleminer Z.
I don't totally agree with you. 4JStudios are not gonna sit and wait for 2 weeks (if it takes that long), staring at the wall or looking for ideas... They probably have lots of ideas already (probably too much thanks to us lol). It's time they are missing, because coding takes a long time.
I'm sure that as long as an update is send to Microsoft cert testing, they are straight back to workd (after a few days of celebration and that party they had... still don't know what it was about !).
Even if they are working on new features, it doesn't mean that they couldn't correct a bug if it was to come back to them from cert testing. Plus, bugs are corrected by Microsoft. It would have to be HUGE stability problem to fail cert testing, and that's not gonna happen. 4JStudios have a reputation (after all, Minecraft is maybe the game that's making them a name in the industry of videogames) and they probably took so long to be sure they were not bugs. Plus, i saw the live streaming of hours long of the 1.8.2 update... No bugs !
4JStudios did the most hard work. Sure they still have breeding, enchantment, new biomes, etc... But i think the hardest workd was creative mode, since it looks more like the latest one and not the 1.8.1 PC one...
Next updates will probably be a 1.0 equivalent, for December... January top ! (just a total GUESS, don't take my word for it). Folowed by a 1.2.3 and then more updates mixed of PC features from next updates and exclusive contents for Xbox...
