Im trying to make a dark map where u have to actually use light i want the sun to be covered but it starts lagging when i place blocks underneath the void in the sky anyone know the problem?
I don't know about your specific problem, but I do know that the sun's light can even penetrate below ground. I have a very, very long, rather wide, 2-block high tunnel dug out in my map now. When I stand at the one far end of it, I can distinctly see the sun rise even though this mine tunnel is not open to the sky. I can also detect stars moving at night. If I walk towards that end of the tunnel, the effect disappears and I again see the stone wall that marks the point where I have stopped excavating. The effect, I think, has something to do with the rendering distance programmed into the game.
I know this isn't the same as what you're experiencing, but I think it illustrates that the sun in the game is far from an "average" light. You may find that it's just not possible to block it out completely.

I noticed lags when i am near the void when mining underground. I would just make your sky roof down a few more levels from the void. I think that would do the trick to stop the lag.
the sun, stars and moon are part of the skybox, which is why you can see them when render distance is exceeded. blocking off the line of sight from ground to sun will still stop its light from hitting the ground though, which is why long underground mines are unlit, obviously.
quite an interesting effect would be to build blocks at the top of the map on a newer version of Minecraft, where the build height was doubled, and then stand on the ground with a render distance of short. You wouldn't be able to see the blocks in the sky, and you would still see the lit sky, but there would be no actual sunlight hitting the ground, so it'd be dark. In fact, I might even try that with MCEdit.
Please do... I'd be really interested in what you discover!
