No, They will come in 1.9.2 update around then. look forward to it by March or April 2013 the 1.9 update is going to be the best update yet. but it may take a while. they already are working on it. they started when they took away Experience for the 1.8 update. but i would say it is being looked into by 4JStudios now. but you will not be hearing about it until stubborn people are begging for more. thatswhy this update is coming out now and was rushed. originally this "1.8" update was planned for December. but people are inpatient. i can talk about this forever but. to answer your question not till early next year. People would have went nuts if it would have been in December considering how much this adds to the game. As for the other updates I dont think MOST people will be as upset due to the huge amount of new things this update has in it. It really is like an expansion pack.
Also it looks like according to the minecraft wiki it was actually in 1.0.0 when they created the snow golem. There are a ton of things in that update too so it might take a long time for them to get it all out.

Who ever may of said that this update is the best comming out "1.8" thats there opinion. Yes there is alot of stuff comming this update but the more advanced things and cooler items are comming next. every update is the best in there own way. people are saying that this update is the best because we have to do now. we have nothing to do so people want this update ASAP thats why they say its the best. it may be but to my opinion i think that the 1.9 is going to be sweet

They where working on it last month. The piston update only came out 2 months ago. it takes a while to make a update. and add all of the stuff coming to it. they even decided to take away levels so they had a few changes to it so they can't just copy and paste all of the stuff from the computer to xbox. they have to decide what to loose or what to gain. thats why it takes longer than is supposed to
