I would not assume a world with shared maps would be all fluffy bunnies. If you think it sucks wading through crappy youtube videos to see a good one, you'll have to wade through crappy worlds to find the gems. Odds are good every idiot is going to "share" every world he spawns, even if all he does is spawn and look around and leave. There will be a lot of cruft in the mix.
There's been screenshot hints that the MC360 is going to get the ability to toggle if players can destroy blocks, place blocks, mob grief, or PvP. I don't know if that's per person or not, or just all non-host players in the world.
But once such controls are in place, imagine whenyou start your world, setting it wide open so anybody can log in (but can't hurt) to your world.
there's less need for renting server space, when you can expose your world to every MC360 player, not just friends or friends of friends. Which means these non-friend visitors can explore your world as you created it, but not hurt it.
Sure, it's not as cool as putting it on an always-on server, but it is within reasonable reach of 4J without as much work or expense.
Yeah, the best bet is to use Halo system. I never used skate 3's system but it seems like a good option.
Anyway, this has been discussed like 20 times already.
Its not possible for there NOT to be a map sharing feature.
Why?
Because its probably the feature that is highest in demand, and was one of the most important features in the PC version.
Translation: We will get a map sharing feature.
Although it's true that the feature is in high demand, the determining question is whether it will even be possible. 4J has said they are looking into it, and so I'm sure we will get it- if it's possible.
Well, they could always decide against it if it effects the gameplay poorly, even if it's possible.

I can't see why not, look at Skate 3 as you mentioned, and Halo.
I can see this argument leading into dedicated 24/7 servers, which
4J said themselves was very possible.
I think you misinterpreted my post. But I'm going to respond as if you did not.
