creative route* That's why it's called "Creative mode". Wandering around in caves, battling mobs, and digging a hole in the wall is fun to some people, more power to 'em. It's just tedious and boring to me. After 1.8.2 is released, I'll probably never even touch survival mode again. Except for the occasional hunger games or spleef match a friend may be hosting. But, as far as actually collecting things and living like some kind of dwarf, I think I'll pass.
I don't have a problem looking for iron, gold, diamond.. But sitting there for hours mining just to collect cobblestone to build with is much less fun. I'll use creative to build then switch to survival when I'm done.
