The Semi-Official Minecraft XBLA Feature Suggestion Thread
* If anyone from 4J is looking at this thread, could you please leave a reply on how I can better structure this for your needs if you do think this has potential to be a tool of yours?
Preface:
The Semi-Official Minecraft XBLA Feature Addition Thread (henceforth referred to as the Suggestions Megathread) is a place where the Xbox community can discuss ideas and features that could possibly be implemented into the game after 4J starts putting exclusive features into the game after the 1.2.3 update in the future. As Notch has stated that he would want 4J to add some exclusive features in, there is a slight possibility that we will get things the PC version will not. Since 4J also reads the forums, I assume that they would pay more attention to an organized and well-writen megathread, rather than a jumble of smaller threads. The Suggestions Megathread was created to improve the chances of a great idea getting recognized by 4J and implemented.
What It Is:
The Suggestions Megathread is a place to put forth ideas and discuss them with fellow community members. The members of the community can then give constructive criticism, advice, and help to the makers of the idea. If the community judges a certain idea popular enough, it can be put up here in the OP for all to see, and a poll will be conducted to show exactly how much support it has. This allows people to see which ideas are wanted at a quick glance.
Putting Out an Idea:
The core of the Suggestions Megathread are the suggestions themselves. Any member can come into this thread and put out an idea, provided they follow a set of guidelines. These guidelines are not required, per se, but they certainly help a lot when submitting an idea. A well-developed one will garner more support than a one sentence post saying: "I want horses in Minecraft!"
These guidelines are:
Please use proper grammar and spelling when posting ideas. Nobody, especially the developers, will take a post seriously unless it is legible.
Title your idea. This will make it easier to put into the poll of the OP and discuss, rather than just putting "Bob's furniture idea" in there.
Give details: as many as you can possibly think of. If an idea is fleshed out, then it shows that you are dedicated to the it, and are serious about your suggestion. Take others' advice as well, as you can edit more details in after posting.
List advantages/disadvantages to it. Nobody wants something that is too overpowered like an indestructible diamond sword that explodes when it hits people, or too underpowered like a dirt pickaxe. An equal list of pros and cons helps balance something out.
List possible uses for the idea. If you suggest something like a statue, then tell what it could be used for. Is it just decoration? Does it scare away certain mobs? Could it turn into a golem upon command? This will help answer questions and dispel notions that the idea would be absolutely useless, and nobody wants useless things.
Be sensible with them. An airplane in Minecraft isn't going to fly, pun unintended. However, a water wheel that generates Redstone charges might. This also applies to being sensible about touchy subjects, like putting in a religion system.
Keep a list of supporters. If someone quotes your post and says that they like it, add their name to a list alongside a quote of what their post was so when it comes time to submit your idea you can have a quick way to show me how many people like it.
Getting Recognized:
Say you have thought of the best idea ever, and everyone loves it. Every two weeks, I shall be looking for supported ideas to put in the OP. To get recognized, you can send me a private message with your post on it and a list of supporters on the days below, and I shall determine if it will go in the OP. The process may take a day or so, and will be judged based on the criteria laid down by the guidelines. The amount of posts in there will be small, maybe five or six well-written ideas maximum, so it is competitive. I will also put a poll up so that people can vote on the ideas to see which ones they like the most. You can keep supporting the ideas after they're chosen, and there might be a list of all-time favorites that take a permanent residence in the OP.
How to Support:
What if you're not an author of a fantastic idea, but still love someone else's? Then you can show your support for it. If you determine that a certain idea is worthy of your support, then you can quote their post and give a short statement saying something along the lines of: "I support this." You are not required to give the user reputation points, but if you feel like you want to, go ahead. Try not to make your supporting statement too long, as the author of the idea has to quote you and put you into a supporter list, so the less space it takes up, the better.
Giving Feedback:
Now you see an idea that you'd like to see, but isn't quite there yet. Well, now you can give some advice to the author. Discuss the positives and negatives with the user, and give ways on how to improve the suggestion. With any luck, the user may take your advice and fix the post so that it gets even better than it was. Next thing you know, it may be implemented into the game! There are some rules to this, though. Do not call an idea or a user out, like for example: "This idea is stupid. You are dumb." These will not be tolerated, and are against the forum rules. There is a good chance you will get reported, and that will not end well for you. Try to use constructive criticism only.
Conclusion:
The Suggestions Megathread has the potential to be a valuable tool for the community. An organized area for all suggestions to be put in will help 4J determine what the community wants, and can fast track a user to having his idea recognized. I am hoping for this thread to become something akin to a Forum of Ancient Rome, or an Agora of Greece, where people gather to discuss ideas and suggestions for a better experience.
Important Dates:
October 22, 2012 - First fortnight of idea polling begins.
I was about to mention that. BUT... this thread does seem to have a much better setup. And I like the idea of things actually being added to the OP, and having a future poll. But, I think the original thread gets the right to stay, and this would be considered redundant.
Saddening... this is the best redundant thread I've ever seen.
Hello. I just brought these over from my other thread because It's pretty much dead.
Abondoned Watchtowers:The towers would be made up of cobblestone and consist of 2-3 floors. They would contain treasure such as Bows, arrows, string and sticks. The towers would only spawn in plains and forest biomies.
Explorer Shacks:
These would be fairly common, more so than Abandoned Watchtowers. They would be made of wood and wood planks. Inside would be a bed and a chest sometimes containing seeds, stone swords, torches and coal. Shacks would spawn in forest and tagia biomies.
Boathouses: Boathouses would only spawn along the shores of rivers and lakes. They would be made of the same matierials as the Explorer Shack. They would also have a small dock made of half slabs reaching out into the water. Boathouses would contain chests with boats and fishing rods inside.
Treehouses: Treehouses only spawn in Jungle biomies. I AM aware that Jungles are and will not be added to the Xbox for some time. Treehouses would be platforms situated on Jungle trees. Some would have walls, and some would simply have fences around the outside. All treehouses will have torches to make them easier to spot. They will contain chests that hold bows, wood swords and axes and sometimes, but rarely, ladders.
Miners Shelter: Miner Shelters are strictly found underground. They are normally about the size of a dungeon and the walls are made of cobble and wood planks. They contain 1-2 beds and a chest that holds iron pickaxes and torches. Same concept as the Explorers Shack, only underground.
Lumberjack Cabins: These buildings only spawn in forest and tagia biomes. They are made of wood, dark wood, and wood planks. They are small one story cabins surrounded by trees. They contain a bed and 1-2 chests sometimes holding wood, stone and iron axes and sticks.
Above Ground Strongholds: These forts would only spawn in the extreme hills biome. There would be only one per map. They are basically like the strongholds found underground in the PC version. Some differences would be that they have walls surrounding them and sometimes watchtowers. Also, it would be possible to find iron armor inside. However, they would not be fully intact. The stronghold would be abandoned and destroyed. If the player wanted to make it it their base, they would have to repair it AND destroy the two monster spawners located inside of it.
Shrines: These small temples are found deep in forest biomes. They are made of wood and mossy cobblestone. They are also covered in vines. Inside, they contain a small alter and a chest that either contains gold ingots or iron ingots.

First of all, I KNOW that i already posted this. But it's just AS A REPLY to a post. And i think there's some real potential in some ideas here, so i make a new post to be sure it will be read. I started to wrote these as ideas for Minecraft Xbox, but there's a lot that could be great for PC too ! So here it is:
BASIC MUST HAVE IDEAS (mostly coming from PC):
- A height of 256 would be awesome, like on PC. That's easy to do, and A LOT of people are doing skyscrappers, especially now that there's gonnae be creative mode.
- Graphic packs to change the look of the game. It's a MUST HAVE.
- All the different blocks that there's on PC. It's easy to make them on Xbox, it's just the graphics to change, and it means a lot for all the one who builds stuff
- Some of the best and most popular mods, as DLC. MANY Minecraft users are willing to PAY extra Microsoft Points for some content... Especially me
- A way to easily share the worlds, or even better, to see all the worlds that can be accessed online ! And most importantly, to be able to store a world ONLINE. A MUST HAVE for teams that want to make incredible builds...
GREAT NEW IDEAS (well i hope lol):
- New kind of blocks that doesn't even exist yet on PC ! Marble would be nice, or tiled floor for exemple.
- Exclusive mobs for the Xbox. Why not minotaurs or snakes ? And for passive mobs, rabbits would be soooo lovely ! Or peacocks. Or a Unicorn, that would be wild, difficult to get near to, and very rare !
- Train is great for traveling, but that's like the only way to travel on Minecraft. Why not adding horses ? A new mod that could be use for traveling ? Or even make it "wild" at first, and then obeying to you ? Planes would be awesome... but maybe a little "too much" for the ancient style of Minecraft. I don't know.
- Village with villagers are awesome. We're not feeling alone in the Minecraft world anymore. Why not add castles, with king and people ? They could be hostile if you approach too much. Or passive or hostile depending on the players attitude.
- Different colors for the clouds. Some light white, some darker, just before the thuder.
- Extreme weather, like floods (water that would add up to 2 or 3 blocks, tornado, or earthquakes that would destroy some kind of blocks only (glass), etc...
- A new kind of weapon. Canons would be awesome ! To make mines, or to make "war" between two castles !
IDEAS THAT COULD CHANGE THE WAY WE PLAY MINECRAFT:
- A whole new way of possibilities, just like pistons. With... wheels ! To transport chest, or to use as carriage for the horses. Or to use as a mechanics that, put on top of blocks, turns 90° when activated ! That would bring a whole new world of possibilities, just like the pistons did
Something that could flip blocks at 180° could be great too.
- A way to make elevators with redstone in Minecraft. So many people are trying to make some, but the result is mostly... well not that great (not working anymore because of an update, complicated, not working, etc...). The idead would be to be abble to move a block (only sandstone, for exemple) forward or "up and down", in a 1x1 "tunnel" made of another precise block type (for exemple cobblestone). The floors could be marked with another type of blocks of redsone. It would be redstone activated. It could be awesome also to make secret passages.
PS: all my ideas are for Minecraft Xbox and also for PC (some are already on there, in know). Some could be on both (like the wheels), and some less important could be only on Xbox (like the rabbits, exclusive mobs, exclusive blocks, etc...
I love this game SO MUCH (for me it's one of the greatest game ever made) and really hope i helped with at least one good idea THANKS A LOT FOR READING ME AND SORRY FOR MY "APRROXIMATE" ENGLISH I hope i helped !
PS: thanks Mojang for making such a great game, and thanks 4JStudios for making such a great version !

The first thing I bolded i am sure will come in eventually anyway with the anvil update a ways away but still awaiting it and hope it does come in as i can handle the world size, but would love having world height.
The second thing i bolded on the other hand i have something to add possibly to that... You know where the customizer is right, well i wouldn't mind when texture packs are around that we get something to mix and match which textures we want changed between all the packs that we end up getting including the default and old textures as there is quite a possibility that new textures update will come soon as well. Can't stand look of the new gravel on the pc...>< Anyway it is something i think possibly could be added to that note, the customizer bit as it would make things more feasibly appealing. Still i love the idea either way...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Obsidian Tools: I know this has probably been suggested before, but I'll post it anyway. Obviously they're tools like all the others, just made of obsidian.
Steel Tools/Weapons & Armor: This particular set of tools has a slightly higher duration than iron tools and armor. Each item made of steel requires steel ingots to be made. Now, how this would be accomplished is that we add a new ore (silver) and then combine silver ore with iron ore to make steel ore, which can be smelted into steel ingots. The steel set would be similar to iron in appearence, but more polished and brighter.
Daggers: Daggers are basically knives. They are half the size of a sword. They hit faster but do less damage.
Spears: Spears are larger than swords and have a longer duration. They also have a longer attack range than swords. However, they do slightly less damage than a sword.
Crossbows: Crossbows would be more expensive to make than bows. Not only would they have to be made of sticks and string, they are also made wood planks. Instead of using arrows, however, they use iron bolts. It would be possible to make 5 iron bolts per every one iron ingot. Crossbows do more damage than bows, but have a smaller attack range.

What if the Obsidian tools never break but and can mine everything, but they mine slower than any other pick e.g. takes 3 seconds to break netherack ether way I support this +1 rep.

Good idea. Carry it when your mining so just incase your pick breaks, you whip this out. Its like the opposite of gold.
Obsidian Armor? Move slower.. armor doesn't break?
Also would like:
-MCXBEdit
Hmmm...
Can't think of anything else. PC already has everything.
Oh, I got it, guns from L4D2
-Tactical Shotgun
-AK-47
-Machine gun
Not a very creative person.

I know. I didn't see it at first when I skimmed through to find out if it was redundant.
MY LITTLE PONY!
Think about it, 4J adding an option to become a pony. WOULDN'T THAT BE AWESOME! I would be the pony president with a cyborg applejack skin.
What ponies can do: Fly, shoot lasers, climb walls, jump higher. PONIES ARE AWESOME!
P.S I am NOT a brony.

Knowledge is power, guard it well.
I support this except for the lumberjack.
I know the guy that created that thread and I don't think he'd mind besides this one is much better organized.
I agree with plant life only as it would be annoying to see dolphins and other creatures, but no sharks.
Like i mentioned in your post, i love these ideas although would mind seeing a mine entrance like thing added to that as i have mentioned.... either way i would suport this one being up there among the best...:D
Knowledge is power, guard it well.
I like these.
The dagger while (hopefully) using less materials, it does more critical damage and/or bonus damage if attacking them in the back.
Knowledge is power, guard it well.
