Guys, I have a suggestions megathread ready to go so that the ideas stated here can be put into a well organized thread with a system of supporting and showing popularity. Anybody interested?
4J should not be taking the game in their own direction. theres a reason minecraft has been so successful, its because mojang has done with the game what they choose. 4j should just stick with updating the game to catch up with pc.
Which, my friend, is exactly why this thread is here. All the haters can buzz off.
Well these are more on the side of mods. 4J did say there is a good chance that they will add mods in the future.
I'm hardly a hater. I think the decisions about what from the PC might fit "their direction" the best should be left up to them, not us. They would know what their direction actually will be, we don't - so whether a specific thing would fit into that direction, we really have no idea. We might like it on the PC, but it may not work at all with whatever 4J puts into the game on their own. (NOTE: The poster I was directly responding to indicated that he wanted us to have a chance to get what we want off the PC and "not them or anyone else." So while he indicated that he agreed with me, I felt that I should clarify my post since we appeared to disagree on this particular point.)
I also think 4J they need a little breathing space - we've been nattering at them about the 1.8.2 update for nearly 3 months now and we're already onto to nattering at them about the 1.2.3 update... and now this thread just sets up more nattering at them about beyond the 1.2.3 update. If we don't give them a break soon, they're going to tell us to buzz off.
I don't know how to link tweets. I've tried without success. Perhaps it is because I don't have an Twitter account. Anyway. That tweet is on the Official Minecraft XBLA Twitter Feed, which is a pinned thread. It's current the 11th from the bottom of the list with a notation something like "(Future updates shaped from community.)." The tweet then links to an interview with Paddy Burns, who is the one who made the statement about getting ideas from the forums and such.
I think everything mentioned would be great especially the emeralds. I really like the idea of mining new things and I am a fan of the color green. I think Rubies might be nice as well. There is way to much natural stone in the game so surely they could replace some of that with all of those.
I would like to see the zombie siege and the npc villager spawning i think that would be fun to have. As u could make big cities and have sieges. Call it siegecraft.
Emeralds and trading are a must. With a finite map space, the trade system is needed to get more resources once the map starts running dry. Enchanting and brewing would be sweet indeed, giving people more reason to stay off Peaceful plus would be a nice boost for solo survival play.
Iron Golems. Sure, they are slow and wander around (make alot and fence them in?) but if you put in Villager trading, it'd be nice to have the golems to help out. Especially with...Zombie Siege!
In a future update we should be able to adjust a bar in options that lowers fps and view distance, allowing for larger worlds, will this be possible? I have many G's of hard drive space I will never use, like 55 g's, is an update possible that could use extra hard drive space to enable larger worlds? If the worlds have to stay small, what if the edges of the map are turned into a loading screen that loads a whole new section of the world the same size, allowing the game to stop thinking about the section you just came from to let you explore more of the game you havn't seen, imagine having many worlds connected by loading, the game is much funner the bigger it is because you explore new places instead of seeing everything in ten minutes, a lot of us don't just stay in one area near our base, is this possible? Even with every enemy finally added eventually, many of my friends and I feel like there is a lack of things to fight, could there ever be xbox exclusive enemies added to add more fun to the game? Large enemies are fun, my friends and I think more would be good, imagine mining and falling into a underground cave that happens to be the home of a large boss, it would be fun and scarey, a lot of random encounters like that would make the game exciting just to mine because you wouldn't know when it could happen, is this possible for an update? I love this game but eventually you've seen it all, to make replayability better could an update add stuff like shields, dual weilding, two handed weapons, more armor types like wool armor, wood armor, stone armor, obsidian armor, maybe even be able to craft a spell book with rare materials and enchanting the book after you craft it, then the book would only let you shoot a few projectile magic attacks like fireball and stuff before it breaks and you need to make a new one, is this possible? I love the feeling of finding good ores, could they add more kinds of rare finds like may ruby, saphire, emerald, onyx, this would open up more options for crafting, is this possible for an update?
It came in the 1.9 prereleases on PC, so its really part of 1.0 (Full release, that is)
NickD71 was refering to the update after 1.8.2 for the XBox, which is scheduled to be 1.2.3 and should encompass everything that was into the game by their 1.2.3 update that has not already been brought into the XBox version with the 1.8.2 update. It is after they incorporate the 1.2.3 update that 4J are thinking about breaking with the series of updates the PC has had and taking the XBox version of the game in a different direction. Everything up to 1.2.3 on the PC is pretty much guaranteed... so, there is pretty much no question that we will be getting the End in the XBox 1.2.3 update, as well as Enchanting. Even though 4J opted not include the XP orbs in the 1.8.2 update (which was done on the PC), they will, no doubt, be including it in the 1.2.3 update.
After the 1.2.3 update, it is not really known just how far from the PC version 4J intends to deviate. It is clear that they do plan to sit down with Mojang and discuss the matter with them before doing anything. So depending on the results of those discussions, we may find that they decide no to deviate at all; but just keep updating the XBox version after new things are released on the PC version (which wil arbitrarily put the XBox version always slightly behind the PC version and we XBox version users will never know the privilege of being surprised by what is coming in an update).
I don't think the intent of this thread was to solicit suggestions that hit the PC prior to 1.2.3 nor do I think it was intended to collect suggestions about items that have not been ever introduced on the PC. There are other threads running with that purpose.
Eh. I need to quote it for the thread I'm making right now.
Could anybody else find it for me? I'm not a Twitter person.

I love that one best!
We're gonna get that in the next update...
