So I want to build a massive castle, upgrading from the small, less impressive one I have already made. I have a good idea of what I want to build, but I was wondering if you guys could add some realism with the size. Since there is no creative I'll have to dig down for the materials, so any help or ideas are very appreciated.
For instance, I looked at pictures and plans of Bodiam Castle- an average size square castle. The sides were about 60 stone blocks, including the towers. That equals a castle about 120X140 minecraft blocks, probably 30 high. So to duplicate that castle in MC it would end up huge. (You can google castle pictures and plans if you want).
Another question is, should my current castle be a part of my new one, it could be the Kings Quarters or something. Though it's not on a flat surface, and it's right next to water, and it's made of cobblestone, my new one is gonna be smooth stone. I'll have to have my current world, with my other builds seperated from the mega castle.
See, there are some problems with this. The castle can be as big as you want it. So if you think 100x100 (or something) looks freakishly large, then fine.
Also, you may be able to fit the previous castle into the new one, but it probably wouldn't work if it had towers. Do you have pics?

Sorry I don't! I don't know how to upload them, and I don't have a facebook. I could make a fake one right now I guess, and figure it out.
The 1.8.2 update with creative mode is probably coming this week, MAXIMUM next week. It's not really a good time to start a big build in survival ! Plus you'll have ravine, vines, etc... with news worlds in the update. I really advise you to wait, and in the mean to write some ideas about your castle. Or watch some youtube videos (just type like "Minecraft castle" or Minecraft best castles"). If you really need to build something, make it small, just for the fun... I really think that if you start something big now you will regret it in a few days.

Now that I see it, you can definitely build a new castle around that and keep it at the center-back as sort of the main segment.
Yes, but it is stationed as that it is almost half way on water, and that's a lot of covering I'm not sure I want to do, and my castle is right next to my house, I think you can see it on the picture. Looking back on it, I wish I had made the structure of my world better, since this is my first world.
Don't worry about the size. Build what you want.
