Anyone else having this problem? My friend noticed this on his world - you tear down a book shelf and you get nothing back. I removed a couple of book shelves on my own world today and it was the same. Nothing.
No books. No wood. Nothing.
If I remember correctly, we used to get back the books and planks if you tore down a book shelf. Did something change recently that introduced a bug?

It's not a bug or anything. It's always been like that. It was only until 1.9 pre-release 3, or release 1.0 that bookshelves dropped 3 books & no wooden planks when broken.

That's really strange because I've had to tear down book shelves in the past and I could have sworn that I got something back from it. At least the books.

I've just recently started using bookshelves to furnish my personal library in my house. Never gotten back a single book.

Yeah, no. They just vanish. I actually used pistons to move them across the room because I hate losing all that sugar and planks (27 & 6 per shelf!).

It would be good if it was in this update & not listed in the change logs. I can't tell you how many bookshelves I had to destroy because I misplaced them or ending up not liking the placement. Pita!

I do plan it out with dirt first, but you never know what It's going to look like until you place the bookshelves. Again, pita.

That's it. I'm officially losing my marbles. Kinda sucks getting old. LOL

You should at least able able to get your building materials back. I can see it when you break glass but it shouldn't be that way for bookshelves. Oh well. Time to go put my straight jacket on and wait until they change it.

I hope they make it drop something because I hate it if you make the bookshelf and then you misplace and you have to do it all over again.

Breaking up a bookcase or two and losing it has never really bothered me much. I certainly wouldn't go to all the trouble of using pistons just to save one or two. All the resources are renewable; and sugar cane grows ridiculously fast. It also takes 6 wooden planks, so that's really only 1.5 blocks of wood.

Still would be nice if something was gotten back from breaking it... To harvest more wood is sometimes a pain. I would rather waste iron on my railways...

Also along those same lines, the boat always puts you below the amount that you used to make it, and those are fragile making boats useless for me...

Would be nice if both bookshelf's and boats would drop what they are like the rest of the decor/tool type stuff. Cause to me it doesn't even make sense the way the pc does it. Getting books back when you just want to move the shelf. just my opinion, as i would like to not have to make over and over and over the same thing when quite a bit of that could be used in roofing or other miscellaneous things around the places that i build...
