Now that everyone is so happy about the next update. I have been asking this since the game came out. Will We ever get Severs like some of the Xbox indie mining games have?
Why do you say a game such as Minecraft wouldn't get it but an FPS like Battlefield would?
Argument is brought up a lot. I'm sure Dice and EA payed a lot of good money to do it. Not to mention it is a full blown game and not something on the arcade. Also, that update for server browser was like 1.5 GB's. I would not like to download something that big. Again..

people can join while the host is offline. That would be great, but I think they should increase
the player size first.
My answer was based on fact just as much as anyone else's. Any yes/no, probably so/probably not reply is a complete shot in the dark. The only real answer is maybe. There isn't very much room for speculation in a topic like this, it's either dedicated servers, "rent-a-server", or no servers at all. At least in a subject like larger worlds, people can conjure up ideas, others contradict those ideas, and theories develop.

No, the whole point is I didn't, it was just a joke targeting these types of threads. I'm saying no one is psychic and nobody knows, based on fact, if we'll be getting any kind of servers. If they say they do, they are lying... unless they're Jesus or something...
I believe they will, only because they've already broken the vanilla formula by adding in features into the core game, that are not in the PC version. For example:
WorldGuard -> Firespread On/Off
Essentials Group Manager -> Build Permissions
VanishNoPacket -> Vanishing OP
This is more than enough proof to say it's certainly possible.
The worlds are too small to have 24/7 server without more than 8 people. They need to increase world size before they do anything with more players or servers. I would say atleast 50,000 x 50,000 worlds depending on how many people the cap is. Honestly I doubt it would happen. I can just see a huge uprising in every country if servers came before world size increases.
the only real answer is Maybe. It's still too early to tell whether or not 4J is heading in the direction necessary to make servers a possibility, we probably won't be getting any info from 4J on this matter until sometime AFTER 4J and Mojang meet to discuss the future of MCX360 post 1.2.3.
