When you make a new world, and you choose the new superflat world option. Will it create the world like normal, where the surface is at water level (Y:75 I think). Or will the superflat world be created at bedrock?
If its the later, and the world is created at bedrock, then there'll be no point in playing on it. Sure its flat and you don't have to clear away any land, but you can't dig down.
I want to believe that there'll be an option where you can choose. So if you want to build tall/big structures, you can choose to build at bedrock. And if you want to be able to dig down, make caves and tunnels, but not have to worry about clearing away earth. You can choose to create a superflat world at Y:75.
That is the whole point of SuperFlat. A really low level to allow maximum height for really big builds.
Since the build height limit is only 128, a SuperFlat world allows you to build 124 blocks high. The biggest problem most large scale builders run into is hitting the height limit. Now, people won't have to worry about that anymore.
Im planning on making an adventure map and I need space for redstone so I will add a sheet of dirt about 20 blocks in the air so I have space underneath. So I think thats what you could do.
Ugg, the idea of laying a layer of dirt over the whole map, even in creative, makes my head hurt. GL with that buddy. I hope the add the options discussed in the above post soon.

I agree. Superflat is an option for building, and showcasing those builds. It's really meant to be used in Creative Mode and is not really designed for mining/playing in. If slimes bother in Creative Mode (I understand the mobs do spawn in Creative Mode), then possibly the best solution is to stock up on building materials in Creative Mode and then flip into Peaceful Mode with the Host Privileges enabled for flying. If the height limit gets raised to 256, then they'll be room for flat worlds at higher elevations.
As of the last 2:00:00 long livestream of the Xbox 1.8.2 update, yes, the superflat world is bedrock with 3 dirt layers above it.
I think that the video is from last Monday, so there is almost no reason for that to have changed.

Anyone know how it will work?

Underground/sewers/basements are nearly impossible with decreased ground level.
