Not sure, Brochacho. Furnaces already break faster when using a pick. They're just altogether slow to break for some reason. You can see a pretty huge difference between using your hand or a pick though.
Future advice: Make your title a bit more specific and you'll get more responses that will come a lot sooner.

Not really a concern for me; and it wasn't mentioned in the change logs. If it's important to you, replay the video of her and time her. Then time yourself in game before and after the update. That way you'll know for sure.
the one I hate more than Crafting tables and Furnaces is the freaking stairs! I hate placing stairs wrong because they take so long.. all they give me is 1 cobblestone figured I could get em out faster!

I agree. It's so annoying when you spend all that time breaking the stairs only to get one block back.
I always make stairways out of dirt blocks first because of this nonsense. Once I'm sure they're where I want them, I replace the dirt with stair blocks.
Edit: And what about furnaces too?
