If it was my guess, it's probably to avoid what's happened recently. There have been two cases so far about users who would ask 4J a question, have them answer, and then they would delete their first tweet and reply to make it look like 4J had said yes to something unrelated. It has caused a lot of stir in the community for release dates and such.
I really hope that this is not the case, and if it is, it's sad that when a developer that was so open with the community has to close their doors to it for them to avoid future incidents of the sorts.

Don't get me wrong.. I love me some Minecraft! But when you play on Xbox and know the level of the pc version it's a bit annoying to be told "next week." next week" "next weeks next week!" for the udate release. Sure, there are allllll kinds of things in the update that change the game COMPLETELY and that's awesome.. BUT my patience has run thin. We were originally told August... then September.. and now it's "next week 100%! " COME. ON. Yes, I understand that it is now in Microsoft testing but still.. What the hell took so long?! I feel like a child whose parents always tell them "Oh, we'll go next week to that super awesome ice cream place!" Over and over and over this child has been told this.. and still.. nothing. The kids hopes were so high and now they are crushed and he can't trust his lying ass parents lol NO THANK YOU!
TECHNICALLY we were lied to and led on to believe false information.
SO, you can all respond to this and tell me how I'm wrong and use big fancy words to try and make yourself seem smarter and make me feel lower because I have a different opinion. But that won't matter. There are hundreds of people who feel the same way as me!
P.s. I personally think that 4J has given and is giving Mojang a bad name due to the lack of truth in the things they say in their tweets and so on and so forth. Enough with the parties and the new office

Woah there buddy. check your facts before they are slanderous. Lots of misleading information didnt come out of them. Its users who misquoting or misleading when the updates will be released. I dont beleive they have ever stated when its being released.

I understand that you're frustrated... everybody is since the 1.8.2 update is like a completly new game and the creative mode is the most important think in Minecraft for a lot of us.
But i honestly LOVE the work that 4JStudios have been doing, and so far it looks like they have been doing a great job at a fair speed for the updates.
Look at the changelog for the updates of Minecraft Xbox Edition: in may they released the game, in june (2 months later) they update it, and the new update is coming in a few days now. So it's been long, it took like 4 months of you forget about the bug fix update of July. But it's the biggest and most complicated update in Minecraft ! They had to change the whole design for the creation mode !
I really think that 4JStudios will be abble to update the game faster now that have done an important part of the job. If they keep updating it every 2 months MAX (and i'm not talking about bug fix updates) it's gonna be awesome. But if they update it only every 3/4 months, going to 1.0 and then to 1.2.3, making the 1.2.3 update in like 6 months it's gonna suck. And some people will probably leave for the PC version.
But hey, they sold 4 MILLIONS COPIES ! In 5 months ! That's HUGE, even compare to the 7 millions sales on PC IF YOU CONSIDER that the Xbox version is a lot NEWER and didn't even had creative mode (how many people probably waited to buy it just for that). Mojang and 4JStudios are not stupid and they are gonna take care well of their Xbox version of the game ! I'm sure ! Or at least i hope ;-)
So new i'm just gonna relax, wait for the update this coming week (i hope)... and ejoy Minecraft ! And so should you ;-)Thanks a lot for all the replies ! ;-)
