Hello everybody, i as just thinking about 4j then i wanted to see what people was thinking about 4J and minecraft?
What do i think? i think 4J is doing a good job but i just think they shouldnt be with microsoft, i think 4J could have been doing a better job at some points like the skins and updates, in update 1.8.3 they removed stuff but didnt add some stuff, in skins they didnt ask the community for the skins, but after all i think they still do a good job,
What are you talking about? They brought forward a ton of things that they didn't even mention bringing forward! And what did they remove? From what I can see, everything that was in 1.8 on PC is coming to us in 1.8.2. Not to mention all of the extras and bug fixes.
I don't think its fair to judge them yet, all they are doing is copying stuff.
i was disappointed with the skins also, but they looked more like a Microsoft promotion that probably wasn't really under 4Js control
sorta like what that other person said, we have to wait until they start doing there own stuff before we know!

It's a little more than "copying stuff". I'm not an expert programmer, but I dabble with Python occasionally and have seen programs written in other languages. So I know how dynamic the differences between programming languages can be.
The guys at 4J that are actually coding this stuff are very advanced programmers. They have one hell of a grasp on two completely different high-level programming languages. They're taking Java code and completely rewriting it from scratch in C++. Yes, they're copying the same instructions, but it's a lot more complicated than everyone thinks it is.

i didn't mean to underrate it or anything, if the question was more specifically do you think they did good with the programming, Id be like yeah! i haven't experience any game ruining glitches so id say there doing a fine job!
but i took it more as "how do you think they are doing creatively" and in that context they haven't really even treaded the waters.
i guess creative programming solutions, but i think you know what im trying to say.

Remove something? Nothing was removed from the game. XP was removed because it didn't do anything yet.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I interpreted it, what do I think of 4J, as in how well I think they're doing in general. They're not going to be doing anything too creative until we get to 1.2.3. That's the highest priority on their to-do list right now and it's their job to focus on that. So in terms of how well they're doing their job, they're doing amazing. I mean, 1.8.2 took awhile, but I think everyone can see why now. They added a ton of extras and fixed all of the previous bugs. Plus, I'm sure they spent a lot more time testing after seeing how many bugs there are currently. I have a feeling we're not going to see to many new glitches coming from the update, definitely not any serious major bugs.
its aboth to me cuz ik its hard to put updates but like comon notch made it faster and he had to think of things from scratch. But on the other side the taking mc xbox into a whole new direction after 1.2.3 and they do listen to commuity and the y thought about bringing foward envhancing and breeding. They also said between 1.8.3 and 1.2.3 they will be releasing a update that the commuity requestd (my guess is breeding enching) so ober all 4j
is good but not the best

i donno why i never think of programming when it comes to game design, i guess that's what happens when your a story writer, and not a coder!
but anyway, i do think your right about that, they have been making awesome progress, and this next update will undoubtedly be smooth!
if they weren't with microsoft then we wouldn't have it on xbox, so i disagree pretty strongly there. They're doing a great job though. The skins have greatly improved in general quality from the first pack and the updates are coming at a decent pace.
I think 4J is doing a fantastic job so far. I'm a little unhappy about pistons being laggy sometimes though. 4J could do even better if microsoft wasn't holding them back. Microsoft doesn't allow them to add updates and patches as fast as they could. But I guess it's just standard operating procedure for them.

i tried to convert a java code to a Sharp code, you are right.
There probably has been quite a bit of discussion about which approach to take, I think Microsoft Studios orginally wanted them to release the first release version as the launch version on the xbox and then charge us for every update by DLC. Mojang refused that and forced a set of free updates to be part of the game at the cost of Microsoft forcing the 1600 msp pricetag in return.
From what I understand, MCXBLA started development while the PC version was in 1.6.6. It would have been impossible for 4J to keep up with PC updates while trying to write a whole game from scratch in c++
Also, $20 for a game like Minecraft is CHEAP. AND free title updates? That's the freakin' bargain of the century. One of the reasons it's the most popular XBLA title and the 2nd most played Xbox title, because skeptics can try it without feeling like $20 is a big risk to take.

Overall so far I like what 4j has done with the semi limited resources the xbox has, updates are rolling along at approximately the same pace as they did on the PC so nothing major to complain about at the moment.

its an arcade game lol $20 is even much + minecraft on pc is the same price
i don't see what there's NOT to like about them, really. they are putting out the updates fairly quick, they keep us up to date on all the news via twitter, and they even post on the forums to answer questions or to comment on "requests". that's more than a lot of game companies do.

Completely agree with this.

I'd like to see maybe a custom skin GUI. It's unrealistic, and probably never going to be there, but it would be nice.
