Since new terrain and buildings will be generated with the new update, this leaves me thinking... The world is limited in size, right? Will the boundaries of the 360 world be pushed out? If they're not, just how big IS the world? I've heard mixed things about the size - that it's about the size of one MC map, or a little bigger. I've never gone out of my way to find the literal ends-of-the earth.
How do you think the new terrain and structures will fit into the 360 version?

It is approximately 864 x 864 x 128 blocks (overworld only) and the edge blocks are not accessible/mineable. The nether, I believe, is about 1/3rd of that, which should make it about 288 x 288 x 128 blocks. When the ANVIL system gets put into place in 1.2.3, the world height may double from 128 blocks to 256 blocks. 4J is looking into the feasibility of making a lateral increase in size; but they have expressly said that this will NOT occur in this 1.8.2 update.
PROBABLY, if you take the center 864 blocks of a PC seed, this will be what you'll get with the same seed on the XBox. That said, 4J may have programmed in some different codes to ensure that certain features (e.g. strongholds, villages) are generated at least once within the current world size. As a result, they MAY also have reduced the frequency of generation of other features (e.g. mineshafts) to ensure that that there is some space to generate the rarer structures without overwhelming the current terrain. We will just have to wait and see what 4J actually did to manage this issue. We do know, however, that they DID NOT increase the world size with this update.

PoeticWhisper is right. As of now as far as the general public knows , the maps will remain the same size after the new update comes.
As for later on , only time will tell.
