so i have this tube subway sort of deal in my neither.
along with a few bases,
after hella time spent placing lights and looking for holes, i have found that those pig men still make it into my tunnels! clogging up the train way and what not.
a ghast even spawned in one of my bases somehow... at least i finally got to kill one (they make quite a horrid sound when they die)
anyway

is this a bug? or am i missing something?

Pigmen spawn regardless of light level. I believe you can layer your floor with half slabs to stop those pesky punks.

Any non-solid block like slabs and glass would prevent spawning.

Not sure hmmmmm...... maby they are spawning in you subway stops and then comeing in the tunnals.

so.. the only way to keep them out is half slabs?

Yes probly there might be anther way you would hav to ask some on like mustash guy (experinced minecrafter)

That's probably the most practical way. You could use a few other blocks instead (such as glass and glowstone)

for a minecart track, I would just put glass over the rails. you can breathe in glass so you do not take damage from going under it in a cart and it stops monsters from spawning on the rails. It also traps you if you get out of the cart under glass, but that is less of a problem if there is no reason to get out and it is contained properly to prevent anything forcing you out.

Can you even put rails on half-slabs? I know you cannot put them on glass. ... on second thought it does not matter they should not spawn directly on the rails anyway. you have places to stand beside the rails in this subway. do you not? Glass over it will stop them from wondering on and should be complete protection in the nether unless you start throwing eggs and spawning chickens there.
