I noticed this in the update log. Does that mean that redstone will finally be easier to get? What other mining speed changes are there? I can't seem to find anything on it.
Yeah, the search I conducted earlier pulled up nothing either. I'm guessing it's just the Redstone fix. I might also include the Obsidian change where the speed is lowered from 15 seconds to 10.

Maybe it also includes mining obsidian by hand to take 2 minutes or something along those lines? I can't remember if that was in a later update or not. I also may be thinking of TotalMiner. God, my memory sucks, I need to install more RAM in my brain.
All blocks receive small changes to how long they take to mine. The change was pulled from 1.2.3 on the PC.
Here is the section of the change log from 1.2.3 on the PC.
Changes to the mining time of many blocks, including Redstone Ore, Stone Brick, Nether Brick, Iron Bars, Doors, Monster Spawners and Obsidian, making their mining times much faster.
I'm just happy that redstone is going to be quick. I get so tired of working around it because it takes so long to mine them out of my way, especially when I have a great abundance. Such a nuisance. I dont really have an issue with obsidian...it just feels right to take forever to mine it
God I'm happy to see redstone and obsidian down. It'll make grinding obsidian for my stats on the peaceful leaderboard easier. I'm at 203 right now because of my legit mined 2500+ blocks of Obsidian </no-life>
Ahh, and redstone ore, now I won't feel so inclined to mine around a vein just because it's faster to.
Faster Obsidian mining is a bonus but I'm definitely happy about redstone being faster. It just really slows you down when you're branch mining and you're continuously hitting big pockets of it.
By my calculations you have spent over 10 hours mining obsidian @[email protected] surely I have that wrong...
To be fair, I didn't grind it all at once!
I do a bit of Obsidian mining every time I'm on, because I have an idea for a build that takes quite a bit of it, and for the amount I need, it would be easier to be able to place Obsidian than trying to cast it in a mold.

I got 12 seconds with a stopwatch, maybe 12 1/2?
