This has been brought up plenty of times. I really don't see the need for keyboard compatibility. The reason I bought MCX360 was so I can I can kick back on my bed, in complete comfort, & play minecraft with a controller. Why would anyone want to give up the comfort of the Xbox 360 controller for a keyboard & mouse?
& as for text chat, that's what a microphone & party chat is for. Don't even bother replying with that "not everyone can afford a microphone" junk. If you can afford a gold subscription, you can afford a $10-$15 microphone.
Sure, text chat would be handy for getting those quick & simple messages to your friend, but other than that, I don't see it happening.
I could only see text chat on the computer, but it's still fairly annoying to see all those messages on screen. Skype and a good party is a great and better way. So is the party chat. Using a mouse would be easier because when trying to move items in the menu or chests, it gets annoying quickly.
I like the controller and already use an XBox chatpad for the signs... which could also be used for text chat. However, mics are great for parties. You can keep your keyboard.
I also like to kick back on my bed, Comfort is a key part of MCX360...My idea of comfort is a chatpad not a heavy scull crushing pair of turtle beaches with miles of wire surrounding me...
I use the cheap head sets that just connect to the controller. I forget I even wear them. I miss my beaches though. They shorted out... my 5th pair doing the same thing... Just not worth the 80 dollars..
i agree for some reason its sort-of like people want kinect for the main menu it wouldn't be compulsory just like this wouldn't be compulsory you don't have to have your mouse and keyboard but i wouldn't use a mouse that's the reason i came to the xbox to play minecrafy

If you bought an uncomfortable, overpriced, skull crushing pair of turtle beaches that make you feel like a dashboard Jesus, then that's your fault. I have a wireless Microsoft headset that I bought when they were first released. Still going strong. Practically weightless to me, top quality sound, & a whole lot cheaper.
Having to stop what your doing in-game every minute, or speaking through a mic & continue what your doing in-game? Hmmm.
I still have my X11s, fully working...And i've bounced them of every wall in my house.I got sick of wasting money on cheap mics that are built for breaking...
I had the px21 4 times, and the MW3 ones the last time, all have broken on me. Now I have the $20 360 mic and it works and I have stepped on them, dropped them, and even spilled soda on them, and they still work. if I could afford the $200+ ones I would. or even the ones that are $100+ but I love the freedom of having no cords attached to my xbox. Well... actually now I am. For some reason my charge cord wont charge the battery. I don't know what happened or how it happened. my Controller was about to die and so I put the charger in, and now it wont charge. cheap M$ products I tell ya. =P

Sometimes rechargeable batteries just wear out an won't charge anymore.
You miss the point completly, I own a pair of turtle beaches because i enjoy good sound quality...But in games like minecraft i don't need the sound quality.Thats why 4J should implement in game text chat.I really don't understand people like you that go out their way to stop something good and useful coming into the game.If you enjoy your wireless mic then good for you, Nobody is forcing you to use text chat...
No, I did not. I voiced my opinion. & I'm hardly "going out ot my way to stop something good".
This is my first post, so hello. I just wanted to add a different perspective on this issue. I am a mute, no vocal chords so I cannot speak at all and so of course, I can't use a mic at all. This makes playing many games multiplayer difficult as you can imagine and in Minecraft, when I want to call my friends over to a find, or point something out, I have to stop, go through all the menus to sending a message, send it, and let them read and respond to it (I have my system set so their voice chat, like in a party, plays over my speakers so they can talk to me at least. Its tedious at best and eventually I resorted to just running up to them and hopping up and down as a message to follow me to what I want them to see.
It would be a godsend to have a quick message feature I could get to that would let me send them a short message with just a button click.
So please, before you go "Thats what voice is for" remember that there are valid reasons not to be using a mic.
Look, I love you as well, but I cannot keep correcting your spelling mistakes... & you do know that we can never be anything more than just friends, right?

How about keyboard compatibility?
Connecting a keyboard to the Xbox 360 works
And my second suggestion:
Chat.
With a keyboard you can chat, or holding down START will open the chat and the keyboard window will open

you can buy an adapter foe keyboard and mouse for the xbox and use messages for chat or even a mic.
