i have been asking 4j for 2 weeks now and never got a yes or no.. actually they just ignore me and other people on their twitter account completely. but i was wondering if we will be able to lure animals with wheat in the upcoming update? i know it didnt come until a later update but what are the chances.
99% no, I would have to say. Like you said, luring with wheat and breeding didn’t come out until the 2nd(?) 1.9 Pre-release, so we will have it at a later date. If you received hundreds of messages every single day, you wouldn't be able to reply to all of them either. Until the breeding update, just capture animals in a pen using the fishing pole.

Yes, but 4J has mentioned doing a huge update, including all patches up to 1.2.3, all at once.

Pretty much the same way you would catch a fish. You have to be a pretty good shot though. This is how players caught animals on the PC in 1.8, I'm sure you could find a video on YouTube.

yes you will lure animals with wheat but u cant breed them
i hope the breeding and enchtning/XP/ lvls and more players in the update between 1.8.2 and 1.2.3 and lots of bug fixes cuz i have a bad felling that there will be alot of bugs in the 1.8.2 update
I was hoping for this but I'm happy that animals won't de-spawn and tall grass can be acquired with shears, it'll make it easier to trap some sheep and have a steady supply of wool.
So as to not waste space making a thread; what are the spawn conditions? I know they don't despawn, and I'm fairly certain they don't respawn (unless they altered that in light of no breeding). I guess my thought is, I have a world with a lot of unloaded chunks. When I boot it up, will new passives load where I am, or will I need to travel to get them? Just some curiosity, since I want to get and secure mobs until the breeding comes out. It will kinda suck not being able to use steak until the next update, but you can only do so much all at once. As long as I can get some melon seeds I'll be fine...
I am somewhat excited to do some land fishing. I can imagine making some tunnels underground to move mobs that I find around the world... >.> Good thing hostile mob systems still work, might need some TNT.

It was confirmed a while ago that they will respawn. It is just rare(which is apparently like the PC version also). As for what will happen with old worlds? Who knows. My guess is they will spawn like normal the first time you load the world and then just stick around. I guess it could be possible that you have no animals when you start the world, and you will just have to wait a while for them to respawn.

Oh, good news then, thanks. I've heard varying news over time, and I mostly figured the update notes would cover well-known concerns like that. ^_^;;

So you can use the fishing pole with regular animals also? I know how to use a fishing pole to fish but never heard it being used on sheep, cows and pigs....

Whichever they decide on, it doesn't really matter to me. It'll get here eventually.
