Ghasts can not only deactivate but also reactivate portals .. or if you (just by chance) had a second bed with you it is also possible to reignite with that :>
It happens in the end too. (although that's not implemented yet obviousl) I watched a pretty hilarious video where a team of people killed the ender dragon just by sleeping in their beds when it came close XD
I was forewarned about beds exploding in the nether, so I've never thought to take one with me. However, thanks to this thread, I now also know that I can use a bed to reignite a dead portal and, with the help of friends, even kill an enderdragon (when the time comes). Not such a bad thread afterall.
Being harsh is not nice but only one side.. the other is running into the forum creating a thread with the title "Discovery!!11" and stating the obvious what could have been avoided with 30 seconds googling or looking into the Wiki, as this forum is already quite flooded some might find this as annoying as peoples smartass comments. As long as you don't make a thread for every personal discovery you have, people won't mess with you Claiming false discoveries leads to malice and laughter throughout most disciplines.. that's human.
But as this has already gone over board: I once discovered you could remove blocks with a pick-axe and place them elsewhere!
I don't get this. If the OP wanted to post a discovery than why is that a problem with you forum bullies? This is a MC forum after all and I don't see a rule stating no topics allowed that involve discoveries and wondering if anyone else knew about it. I like coming on here and reading others experiences and their excitement of finding out new things. What is wrong with that? I didn't know beds exploded in the Nether and I never in my life would have googled that question because I never thought about it. You forum bullies are something else, you are probably too much of a wimp in the real world so you act all tuff behind a PC screen and a user name. People need to realize people have emotions and a lot of these unnecessary responses should be avoided. If you have nothing constructive to share on a topic move on to another one, or take your toughness out on the street and see how strong you really are.
Seriously, folks, cut them a little slack. I knew the bed fact, but only because I poured through the Wiki when I first started playing in June. There are things I have learned by trial and error (dropping items on a pressure plate only works if its wood) and things I have learned by seeing them in YouTube videos (you can put paintings over open doors to hide them) that I hadn't thought to ask, and would have liked finding out about from other players.
Excuse my bad language but you really are a c*ck, it seems every topic i open up in this thread you have an irrelevant smart **** comment that you feel the need to post for reasons i will never know, parents not love you enough? no friends?...
Wow you guys are really hating on these guys just for not knowing a tiny feature/glitch about the nether, I've been playing since 1.3 and found about this around 1.6, He probably never played the PC version before thats why he didn't know.. No reason to hate. All minecraft players started as noobs (no offense to op) Just check out Yogscast first minecraft video they sucked, but now look at em'
nah, but I've got a vindictive spirit. I think the guy deserves more than a comment box can give him, frankly. Humility is an important trait to have.
I don't think he necessarily deserved to be called a cock, and told his parents didn't love him as a child and saying he has no friends was quite needed to verbally abuse someone for being a smart-ass, theirs plenty other, more "mature/better" ways of doing so.

On topic, I also had no idea about this, I've played this game a decent amount of time and not once have I ever tried to sleep in the nether, thanks for the warning.
Wow man your right about the guy but take a few steps back and calm down.

My parents don't give me love? You're the one trying to start an argument on a forum.... Notice you're the only one who replied to me? Yeah,, because no one cares. You're immature insults don't hurt my online feelings.
u really just found out about that wow just about everyone knows that even the noobs
I guess I'm the only noob, actually there's another, that didn't know this. I have a friend who is building in the nether and he's got two beds.... LOL... I think I'm going to try and get him to sleep while I watch.. LOLZ!
So after I read the OP I decided to go try it myself, and sure enough it blew me to hell. Well even more into hell anyways. But when I placed a bed in my obsidian fort in the Nether it made the sound of an explosion but it didn't kill me. So there is something that even more people probably didn't know.

Step to far? I think so...
Yogscast still knows nothing about Minecraft.
You really just found out how to use a keyboard, based upon your grammar, am I right?
