nice. pretty big. whats an estimate of how much of each mob drop you get per hour?
thank you it took forever to build!! and probably 128 items dropped but i need to fix the water because not all the items drop they get stuck right on the edge. now you got me wanting to sit there for an hour and count lol
The mob output looks rather slow .. is that because it is night (why didn't you make a daytime vid?) or do you have unlit caves nearby? My ugly much smaller spawner seems to produce more mobs than yours ..
But design and dimension => very nice
thank you and i have built an underground slime farm thats underneath it maybe thats why? or it could be because its night i dont know. and i did not know day/night had and effect on mob spawns.. next time i build something involving mobs i will make the video in day time. also the mob spawner thats on the very top i need to improve because the spawn squares are to big so i need to add some more water canals..
It's the light level which affects monster spawning .. this is why you usually build your spawners as completely dark rooms .. i liked your windows into the spawners, because i hate i can't look into mine But i wonderd if this is already enough to affect spawning negatively during daytime .. but i assume you have not done any kind of tests?
Hostile mobs will spawn only in light levels below 7 i think, and the darker the higher the probability. Further mobs can only spawn in some area around you (don't know exactly, i think 144 blocks?) .This means if your mob spawner is the only dark place within 144 blocks all mobs that spawn will spawn there. When you have unlit caves nearby mobs could also spawn there, taking away from your spawners output, and when you have unlit land at night mobs can also spawn there as we all know from our very first night Just for clarification..
yea i knew about the spawn 144 blocks away and spawning in dark areas around mob traps and i liked the windows too cause i thought it would be cool to look into the spawn area.... i have another mob trap idea its a gravity one and it has floors on it too soo ill be working on that trap right away and have another video posted soon! oh btw it will have windows too lol so you can see them spawn again and it will be and underground trap aswelli also hope im not boring you guys with these mob trap videos im truly sorry about the first video i posted i shouldnt have done that cause ill even admit it, it sucked... im just trying to toss out mob trap ideas for everybody to do

oh yeah i almost forgot i think the windows are up high enough so no light can get in that is also why i blocked the roof off with another spawner
The best spot to build one of these is an island or in the middle of a big source of water. Since mobs can't spawn in water it's less you have to light up. Just do the X-ray trick to find any caves and light them up.
Also this design is not efficentbin the sence that the mobs take time to travel to the lava blade to die. Let's say you have lit up everything and the mob spawner is working at full capacity. Your going to be limited by the fact that the mobs are alive and take a while to die, thus the mobs have filled the mob count and one has to die before another appears.
Ideally you want them to die the moment they step off the mob pad that way there is no wait time it's just a steady stream of loot.

this next trap im making will kill them instantly after they step off the spawn square

Like the use of glass, which to this point is one of my favorite blocks.

Grinders like these always seem to confuse me.
I never can see whats inside.
