ETA: I should also clarify, the only reason the axe is so far down on the list is, more often than not, I forget to bring it along when chopping wood. Since wood can also be had (albeit more slowly) just by punching, I tend to get lazy and not go back to get the axe, but just punch down whatever I need with my fist. I often do the same with the shovel... not going back to get it but rather mining sand, gravel, and dirt just with my hand instead. However, I do like to build with snow blocks, which can't be obtained without the shovel... so it gets used more than the axe.
If you think this poll is pointless, then why would you post in it, therefore moving it back to the top of the list? Just wondering....
Also, please be considerate to others. There are some people who actually think about things like this sometimes....
I'm saying the poll would be more useful if you could rank the tools in order of most use. Of course the pickaxe is going to win.

Well is there a way to rank tools in the poll? If so that would be a big help as that was my original plan....
Well that about sums my list up. lol... although Minecart use might be as much as crafting table or ladders eventually when i finish my rail system...>< I don't usually make a full set of tools, in that way i build the minimum, that is i just use my torch on simple reclaimable materials and a stone pick for most the basic stone and iron pick for everything else beyond obsidian. I only use diamond on obsidian, as i don't like wasting diamond. efficient in the way of the pick, but not so much with the other tools...lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
For me its:
1. Pickaxe
2. Shovel
3. Shears
4. Axe
5. Flint and Steel
6. Hoe
7. Fishing Rod
Let me know if I missed any tools! (Wasn't sure if I should count the bucket as a tool)
I feel I must clarify. I mean only tools (not weapons) and Im only talking about things that break after so many uses.

I was thinking the same thing. The poll is kind of useless.

since I am always trying new things I find myself needing to make and then take down things all the time, so for most things you need a pickaxe.
2. Torches-for the digging i do
3. Shovel-got to look behind dirt and gravel for goodies
used only when im above land which is 25% of the time
4. Flint and steel- got to make food on the fly
5. Shears- i got beds everywhere
6. Axe- only need it when i get low on torches

I forgot about generating ready-to-eat porkchops (lol). However, I gave it up when I accidentally burned up my boardwalk.
